    Troubleshooting a Quadra 840av

Then it would work without the video card, right? I've tried booting the board with only onboard video, speaker and power supply plugged in. no dice.

    Troubleshooting a Quadra 840av

Thanks to someone on another forum, I got access to a Quadra 840av. Long story short, I bought it for $75, because it did not post. The person selling it was about as illiterate about macs as I am therefor I was hoping it would be a simple fix, and worst case scenario, the main board needing a...

    Using the iie emulator card

BAH. That's lame. :p And here I had the foolish thought I could have one mac that would "do it all" :p

    Using the iie emulator card

I don't want to de-rail the thread, but I was wondering, if there were IIe cards for machines OTHER than the lc-pds style? More specifically, I was hoping there was a "standard" nubus version. I'm working on "pimping out" an 840av and I would very much like to fill one of its slots with one of...

    Removable media, which is better

I've always known about the zip drive. I remember how useful it was. How we had 2 drives die to the "click of death". The whole nine yards. Long story short, I've been using an new ide 250mb drive and a scsi 100mb drive to transfer files between my ibm system and mac. However, this weekend...

The stars aligned on this one...

little update. I popped it open (properly) and it has the origional hard drive in it! Its a seagate st2209n. It also was fully functional. Its silent! Someone used this as a "games" hard drive. They LOVED Simcity 2000, and honestly, who doesn't? I'm NOT a fan of the big hard drive, and my...

The stars aligned on this one...

Behold! Apple Macintosh 160SC Just got it home a bit ago. I don't care if all the insides don't work, I can fix it all. When I saw it on the shelf I thought it was the 20mb version. The one that connects to the mac plus floppy drive connector. Boy was I wrong. Also the price "tag" is...

Strange "Space Ship" Sound Coming from LC III Speaker

I don't wonder at all, that drive is as good as dead now. I mean its "technically" possible to be lucky enough that the internal filer takes care of the load of dust and dirt, but if you are THAT lucky you should be out playing the lotto, not opening drives.

Strange "Space Ship" Sound Coming from LC III Speaker

It might be a silly question but... why is there no lid on your hard drive? Does it still make the sound when that drive is completely removed?
