I'm looking to sell my mac plus, color classic, and SE. title pretty much says it all, what is the safest way to ship these units and have them arrive intact? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess bubble wrap and peanuts are not desirable. Would some stiff closed-cell foam work?
exactly. Having a large cache is also a good thing if you have a large amount of ram as well. And in this day and age who DOESN'T max out (or beyond) the memory in their 0x0 system? I know what I'm asking for DOES EXIST, and I'd love to be able to help make a batch of these add-on's for...
Well, if you are making a new 030 > 040 accelerator yes. But I was mostly referring to the quad doubler. I only referred to the other upgrades because they included L2 cache with the 040 upgrade.
I'm referring to this guy:

I've been toying around with my 660av recently, and a thought occurred; Instead of fighting tooth and nail over accelerator cards, why can't we "remake" some of them? Case in point: the quad-doubler http://www.everymac.com/upgrade_cards/sonnettech/quad_doubler/quad_doubler_50.html
A deeper...
If I knew where kamloops, canada was, i'd come over and steal that beast from you. Honestly, the PS/2 IBM series had MANY flaws, but good looks was NOT one of them.
I think the original user wanted to mark what cables went where. I used a alcohol soaked cotton swab and it came right off.
Also, Singapore unit, What does that mean? Should I be happy or something?
2 of the 3 808X portables I got worked. The HP one needs some sort of special power supply...
Local computer recycler put these two machines (and others) on ebay. They charge a MINT for shipping so their auctions tend to end up very low. Thankfully I live ~ 15 minutes away so I like to snag any deals.
First was a Macintsoh SE FDHD. It was giving a ? disk error so I got it REAL cheap...
Instead of a new thread every time something comes up, how about just posting here?
I'll start!
This SE looks interesting, but is $100 too much? I already have a plus and color classic.

And a couple days ago - a mac portible...
Finally got the caps from Mouser! I ordered a nice pair of tweezers and boy was I glad I did!
I'm not going to make this a long story. But the end result is, the board is dead. After replacing all the caps, I powered the board and the area of the board near the ADB connector catches fire...
What the holy hand grenade did you do to that LCIII? I can understand the stick-on cooler on the cpu but the other one? Also, why the jury-rigged battery? When you can get real replacements for $2 each shipped?

sorry for late replies, busy week. what with company from out of town, turkey day, and my furnace deciding to commit seppuku, its been an eventful week.
@imac600
I misspoke. It does NOT have a floppy drive. I was actually using a 7.1 boot CD, that has all the system installs for 1.0 to...
Went to a government auction the other day. Ran by the dept. of corrections. Meaning all the work was done by inmates. You get free loading of your car/truck etc. Anyway, long story short, the very last items up for bidding were a few ppc macs and a very nice color classic. I ended up...
update. I took out the mainboard and really scrutinized the caps on it. Turns out the 2 10uf caps around the scsi area are slightly leaking. I do mean slightly, but it means one thing. NEW CAPS!!! I have 2 other motherboards waiting for a re-capping. So I might as well get all at once...
I was going to get these:

But according to your suggestion, these would be better:

It did once when I started. 2nd and 3rd attempts were grey screens. 4th and beyond , all black screrns with no chimes.
Looks like im going to be doing that. Looking at mouser.com for a set of nichicons.
see, that's the thing. when I look at the board, it looks practically pristine. There is no evidence of leakage near any of the caps, specifically near the power connector. Should I just go ahead and do it anyway?
