correct, I did not use cling wrap. The plus I had was the color of a beige mac. The battery compartment and under the apple logo were clear indicators of the original color.
As someone who has retrobtite-ed a plus, my advice is to use a cheap brush and the developer cream. I used a THIN coat and reapplied every five minutes, turning the case 90 degrees each time. It took about 45 minutes and it came out PERFECT. This was also a hot summer day at high altitude. I...
I have a few clones and they are nice systems. I honestly prefer them to the apple offerings of the time. That said, they do have some quirks. IIRC they have a fast frontside bus, but only have half the memory slots. So it ends up being a wash.
"normal" scsi hard drives should work fine if...
Every time some places static sensitive computer parts on carpet, GOD KILLS A PUPPY.
The little board is most likely a mod to expand the ram. Not 100% on this, but it sticks out in my head, this is the case.
While not into the original mac myself, for $300 and this many modded parts, I'd say...
yes it was.
Well i have a spare enhanced board that got damaged so i was going to harvest the chips out of it and put the original chips back in the kit si i would have a complete kit.
Another Craigslist score!
I REALLY wanted the duodisk. It even came with the cable! I must say, whomever designed that cable, and decided against self-retaining screws/thumbscrews should be flogged. Took me 10 minutes with a magnet to find the damned things...
The IIe is enhanced, I'm...
Was going to post this a few days ago, but with the 'upgrade' I just now remembered.

Got if off epay for $25. Adds 128k of L2 to the Quadra 700, 900 & 950 if the blurb on the back can be believed. The seller taped the shipping label DIRECTLY to the box. ...
Well, I got to the IBM chassis. I had a serious case of blueballs. the bottom left machine was the cause. It taunted me with a front decal "expansion unit". But alas, some jackass just took the outer case, and dropped it on a bog standard 5160.

next up are the IBM chassis, several 486 desktop cases, and about 30 hard drives.
OI VEY!
Short answer, I'm selling it on consignment. Well most of it. I can't justify keeping 8 machines. 2 maybe 3? yes. I'm currently 1/2 way through all the pc cards. Notable cards: 8-bit scsi, 8-bit quad floppy (1.44mb!), At least THIRTY 8-bit HP ethernet cards, a PCI multi I/O card with...
I am going to give a tentative answer of yes. I didn't get a good look at everything, it was a whirlwind of boxes and loading. They are currently sitting in my garage at the moment. Once I get all these addon cards organized I can go into the IBM machines. 'john' told me one of the systems...
You might have seen the vogons post, or reddit post in /r/retrobattlestations or on retromachines on facebook, but just incase,I'm posting here. 2 days ago now I got a massive load of computers and spare parts and I wanted to share what I got.
I've been dicking around all day and finally have...
got a new power supply. A nice compact meanwell unit. The hard drive was stuck, but just a gentile manual turning of the spindle from outside the drive unstuck it. Still getting the chime then sad mac 0f002 error instantly. So if anyone reading this happens to have a copy of the firmware I...
I kinda assumed, if you were skilled enough to harvest memory chips from one simm for another, and do it where it looks nice, you probably already knew what mouser was.
