Hi!
I just got this Quicksilver G4 with 1GB ram and 1.4GHz CPU upgrade and it seems to work in OS9 but under OSX it will just power off after a few minutes.
First time it happened when it restarted one of the 3 hard drives died.
I removed it and installed a clean OS9 and it seems to boot up...
Can you still boot using a CD to check/mount the hard drive or did it get fried?
AFAIK There are a few reasons a backlight can fail so you'd need to open it up and check the fuses and such.
I'm not 100% sure about checking the inverter, my dad would take an AM radio up to such things and see...
It should, but you wouldn't know until you went to compile.
Hacks like that can be useful to get up and running but eventually you'd fix the underlying issue.
I installed Debian 8 from a USB stick, I don't 100% remember how I did it but I do remember using the network install iso.
Maybe this one? https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/archive/8.9.0/powerpc/iso-cd/debian-8.9.0-powerpc-netinst.iso
What I did was along the lines of:
- Find usb stick in OF...
It's a shame it's not supported, I thought bin->iso caused the audio tracks to be lost though.
I was looking into the g_mass_storage driver from linux and thought about hooking up a tiny arm pc to it and using that as an image but it seems to only support iso as well.
Is there any software that will emulate a physical CD drive that accepts bin/cue files and runs under MacOS 9?
I want to start backing up some of my discs but I don't want to lose CD audio on those that have it.
Neither Toast nor the Virtual CD emulator seem to be able to do this and I...
This has been driving me nuts for the past two days and I've been trying lots of fixes and stuff I've found scattered around the internet but with no luck.
I cannot mount a share on my iBook no matter what and despite thinking afpfs-ng would be a fix it compiles but does not run properly under...
That is super cool, with my own experiments I could never get the video to embed and download at the same time because it would just hardlock the machine.
Looking forward to this for sure :)
Yes I did, I used CHANS battery rebuild here in Ontario, I'd definitely recommend them.
I had to send another battery because the control circuitry on the first one was fried beyond repair, all in all I'm very pleased.
It is better to use ethernet I agree but I wanted something small and...
If you go the OSX route I personally use a Raspberry Pi Zero W as my WiFi adapter and it works really well.
Also the built in airport card will connect to a WPA* (1 not 2) network as long as it's on the latest firmware and on OSX > 10.3.9.
*I've gotten it to work on devices where you can...
I think I almost have enough to test it in one of those z80 testing circuits except for the lack of a 555 timer.
Kinda hesitant to put it on ebay because it's likely just gonna get scrapped, might keep it for the ~~future~~
Not Apple related, but I found another thing, this while cleaning up some junk.
Neat stuff, idk what I'd do with it and I don't have a way of testing it.
I do all my programming in C, but use a Raspberry Pi Zero W to run my toolchain as well as provide internet access over USB.
