    7zip for classic Mac OS?

I come to the conclusion that 7z decompression is only possible in OSX. LZMA is a open source algorithm so its not impossible to write a archiver even for system 6-9.

    7zip for classic Mac OS?

Is there a 7-zip supporting compressor or decompressor for the classic OS available or needs it to be written first? I found p7zip and stuffit for OS X only. For interested people using vintage macs A low memory LZMA decompressing source is at the coreboot project repo to find.

    Graphite UFO.

i thought there were also PC(or whatever else) compatible base stations from 2002-03.They have 2 ethernet ports. Is it possible to convert an old UFO via flashing the ROM to working with PCs in a network or doing router works like the MIPS based NSLU2? This may be a good theme for the "I...

On the X86 there are 3 types of instructions: Integer instructions(most code) Floating Point instructions(complex math, needed an FPU on 386) Vector instructions(comparable to altivec called MMX,SSE2/3/4) The Hackintosh OS X emulates vector instructions on A PIII using an earlier version of...

Setting up my IIfx has been very circular...

A/UX is a very special Unix system. Mixed from Uniplus,BSD System V,and SunOS. It even supports different file systems like NFS via the sun vfs. It has the system V FS ,STREAMS and supports TCP/IP and select() and BSD signals. It contains mixup code so that programs can use the GUI routines...

    604e versus the G3

The G3 is almost always faster, that was the reason for the 9700 to use it. The G3 Macs often come with a full megabyte of cache or some on chip cache, like the 750cx. The 604 machines can run Copland that supported preemptive multitasking only for background processes if it didn't crash(lol).

Happy Tenth to the B/W G3!

I thought about to post the same topic yesterday. These Macs accept 1GB of RAM and HDDs up to 128GB. ZIF CPU upgrades up to 1100 MHZ are available. The 300mhz model is a bit slower because of the halved cache. The G3 runs a lot more operating systems than my 6100. I have still one of these...

    PC, Playstation

Sony cut the external ports from the Playstations with model changes and cut the opening mechanics with the PSOne(the small). There were special white blue and black units for video CDs and developers. The PSX is still good for playing music CDs with the 2x CDROM drive. It lacks computer...

Epson Equity Ie for 89 cents

I liberated XTs from Tandon and Siemens once. Minix 1.x supports multitasking and TCP/IP even on this computers. Other software I had was Windows 1.03,2.10,GEM and FreeDOS. The XTs were much slower than my ATs and I had trouble installing 1.44 floppys and Trident 9000 video cards. P.S. This...

    "Newtendo"

There are "homebrew" games legal available. Most of them for 2600 because that system is most challenging. A 2600 emulator may run fast on Newton OS if properly recoded but may look very different in grayscale and input is a bit difficult. NES emulation may require a good optimizing compiler...

    MacOS 8.6 on "Sawtooth" G4

To the 500 Mhz G4 barrier: Thats why the PPC 7450 was used in the 667 and 733 Mhz G4 DA. An interesting note is that the lower price Digital Audio model include a PowerBook CPU called 7410 that can use half its cache as RAM and may be better at overclocking because it runs cooler ,which I...
