One thing you can try (if you suspect your router settings are the issue) is to set the server as the DMZ host. That leaves all ports open, then if you still can't hit port 80, try changing it in the MacHTTP config.
You may also want to look at IPNetRouter on the Mac.

It's $89 and you need a lot of patience and a degree in network technology to set it up. I got it to work once, before the demo expired, but it was way more work than worth.
Obviously MacHTTP is configured correctly if you can access it locally... I would try setting up your router to do port forwarding. Set the private port to 80 and the public port to 8080, but leave MacHTTP running on port 80. Then try http://thismac.is-a-geek.com:8080.

Well, the browser is a damned handy thing... with serious limitations. It's not really much good for modern web content, but it is a great way to download files to your Apple II. You can use the wget program to download files to Contiki's directory or disk images can be written directly to disk...

I played with it a bit last year... I was hoping to get a proline bbs online, but the message board part is pretty archaic and I wasn't up to the task of writing a new one. Neat to play with though, and very well documented too.

I have a couple of the el cheapo Apple 12" RGB monitors which suit me just fine... good sharp picture and you can drop them several times without breaking them.
