    The Quote button

I dislike work as much as the next slacker, but so far this change hasn't stopped me. Highlight the text you want to quote and hit the "quote" button. Try it, I dare you!

    The Quote button

I'm feeling a distinct sense of déja vu... Anyway, for those who are stilling banging on about this, seriously it's not that hard to adapt to such a minor change as this – that's why we [mostly] have large brains and opposable thumbs...

    The Quote button

You know, until this thread came up I didn't notice the quote button on the reply page... I also didn't realize you can select the text to quote rather than quoting the whole post and editing by hand. Not me – I'm actually further ahead than I was before... this is the biggest leap for me since...

Maybe so, but please don't abuse it!

    The Quote button

Back in my day we didn't have quote buttons... had to cut'n'paste everything by hand!

    DNA Sequencing Software

Sounds neat, but what does it use for input? I'm guessing you can't just stick a swab in the floppy drive ;-)

The Price of an SE/30 in 1990?

apple-history.com has $4,369 in 1989... presumably the price wouldn't have changed much by 1990.

    OS Ideas

my cunning plan seems to be working... Anyway, now that this topic's been completely derailed... assuming you had the time, inclination and skill to write an operating system for 68k machines, what would be the key features that set it apart from what's currently available?

    OS Ideas

Then let me categorically state that it is impossible for one person to write an entire operating system in one month! ;-)

    OS Ideas

Something tells me an OS coded from scratch by one person in the space of a month might not be all that usable. I'm just saying...

    how to create .dsk files

About the only way to read/write Apple II disks is with an Apple II... the tricky part is getting the image transferred to the A2 in the first place. ADTPro is probably the best place to start as it handles a number of different transfer methods.

    IT BURNS!

I've got half a dozen G3 iMacs still in regular use and they all get quite warm to the touch -- never had any problems other than 1 dead HDD, so my guess is that the convection cooling is quite adequate.

    RAM Disk Repair Trick

This may be blindingly obvious to some, but it took me several years to figure it out and I thought I might save someone else the time ;-) My wife has an LC 575 that she uses for bookkeeping etc. It's a floppy-only model and has had problems with the hard drive for years – problems that...

    Mac-to-A2 file transfer

It's been a long time since I've used it, but I believe Bernie ][ The Rescue is what you need. I used to set up a small ProDOS formatted RAM disk in MacOS and copy whatever files to it... then you can launch Bernie and mount the RAM disk (or physical partition) and subsequently copy the files to...
