Since it appears you have a dvd drive here is a link to Suse for the last supported build.. I've not installed this particular build, but looks like I need to try it out since it's the last on this platform..

Trag, I would also include the backup system AMANDA for Linux in your statement. Even though there are tutorials and how-tos to get this system up and running claimed in 15 mins.. I've yet to get that beast of a backup system working properly ever.
I yearn for the days of Retrospect or...
I suppose that might make me fire up the se/30 in the garage.. I really need to bring all my macs inside the basement... I had a climate controlled storage area that I recently quit using and everything there is now in my half of the garage.. It's very cold out there, but at least out of the...
Very Very nice Conquest there!
Those are worthy of MY basement }:)
The Thunder II card with the dsps are very nice in this class of machine as well.
With 256megs of ram I bet it takes FOREVER to startup during that memory check. Mine sure does. Anyone know if that skip memory check...
Well, that certainly makes sense. That would sound like a video card fail in OSX.
I really need to install my bigger hd in the b&w and set things up much better to my liking then.
Thanks for the clarification!
Any chance you OS 9.x partition is the first partition set?
You might be up against the OSX 8 Gig startup volume limitation...
Try repartitioning, and installing OS 9 on to a partition >8 gig out in the disk land.
Or just copy over the contents of the partition from the first to the...
Yeah, Suse dropped official support for awhile, then they brought it back a couple years ago, and now it appears they have just dropped it again.
I've been installing version 9 and early 10.0 Not sure what the final ppc release was now... Something else I need to look for now.
Good luck!
You can put linux on about anything :) Some toasters, some fridges, my old 386-16.
My oldest mac with linux was a Performa 6300 I think. Been a long time since I booted that machine up.. It has an older version of YDL on it though.
The QS 933 should handle linux no problem at all. Suse...
I've searched for Linintosh vmware appliance to no avail. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Well because I'm lazy and I would have to build it myself anyways if it wasn't in existence.
It's not in the vmware marketplace after all this time, as well as can't be downloaded from "other"...
I still say Suse Linux PPC is the way to go. Many things JUST WORK right of the box with that Distro.
Ubuntu is good as well. Arch Linux, and then if you want to customize EVERYTHING Gentoo Linux PPC.
With Gentoo you will learn a LOT about your mac's internals and with compiling in general...
I managed to get my 128K Mac upgraded 512ke system on the registry tonight. If you are looking for me there is one more piece of info there. hehe
Here's my decoding for the Mac. I'll register the 400k external drive and HD20 later sometime.
MAC 128k
Manufactured in: F => Fremont...
Geez.. I suppose now I have to register mine. AWESOME score though! I wonder how old mine was. I posted pics of it on January 24, 2010 For it's birthday. That and the fact that mine works now is really nice.
Congrats on yours!!!
Does yours have the 800k floppy drive upgrade too like mine...
I would have to concur. I KNOW I have that document you are referencing SOMEWHERE in my collection picked up along my career as a performance engineer.
Hmm.... IF most drives that I see coming in used from garage sales and thrift stores, I'm not thinking it's credit card numbers and bank...
Goodness!!!!! Does that key hack work on the Quadra 950????? Mine takes forever and a day to start up since it's got the full 256 megs of ram installed. I wish I bought more ram back then. 60 bucks for 256 Meg sets!!! Nowadays 30 pin 16 meg simms are about impossible to find cheaply.
Any chance you work on IIFX motherboards that the idiot previous owners left to battery decay? I know there is at least one pad gone there and who knows what else. but the boards are relatively clean other than the battery area....
I never go around to learning proper soldering...
That is great! It's nice to see that other computer axiom for pricing for special needs equipment still is in place. Multiply the real price of the unit by 10x and sell it for that. 599.00 WOW. Same goes for the Don Johnston products on eBay too.. However the IIGS cards are wicked fun to hook...
Hmm.. I see what the guys are saying now. Beautiful photos I must say.. I do agree that the reset interrupt switch stuff on the bottom right looks like just plastic indentations like a thin part of the main body and not separate buttons like they are in reality. Must be an interesting light...
Now if that was an ANS (Apple Network Server 700) I might be convinced to run from the police with one of those... Wait, that might kill me in the process. Still worth it.
Awesome. I feel like I'm connecting with long lost brothers or something.
I get asked at least 3 or 4 times a month similar stuff about why on earth do I collect or tweak, or buy the stuff I do, or even why I'm still using it! That was when I brought in my G1 Scroll Wheel 10G ipod.. IT works...
