Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I figured I should move this convo to the main Sync-inator thread...
Oh, I didn't know such a thing existed? Do you have a link? Or did you mean 'video card' rather than 'adapter'?
Makes sense. IDK what the market would be like - certainly not as large as that for the Sync-inator. I wonder...
Understood, but there was NO implication his nifty device should do anything other than what it's designed for. Why not let the designer comment / shoot this down rather that deciding for him? FWIW, I think his stuff is AWESOME!! Love my FloppyEMUs!!!
I suppose I could send the cards your way? I have at least one card + 9pin output connector that came out of a Mac Plus - I believe it was used with a large external monitor for displaying engineering drawings. The Plus was ex-Western Electric UK.
I beliece there were loads of other "compact...
^^^ what @dcr said. In addition to a similar collection, I also have a few - what I believe to be - "TTL" video cards that have 9 pin (mono) outputs. Have you thought about ingesting that sort of input and regurgitating "VGA"? Obviously, you'd need to map 9 pin to 15, and some (most?) of those...
@dougg3 @Arbee - great testing / sleuthing guys! Really interesting reading and glad @dougg3's made progress! I'm wondering, though, if at least some of the (older driver) scenarios where the CD boots first regardless of SCSI ID / Startup Disk settings may actually be by design? IIRC, weren't...
Perhaps a dumb question... but have you used the "Startup Disk" Control panel to set which 'drive' to start from? I believe it saves something in PRAM? If you're getting the disk with flashing "?" - it may not be set? Also (might be failing memory here?) but I think if nothing is set, the...
Interesting project - question - is this a 1:1 reproduction, or have you tweaked design to work around some of the harder to find modern equivalents? I believe Q12 (if memory serves) doesn't really have a modern day direct replacement?
Were there / are there 2 chip vintage Mac compatible 16Mb SIMMs? I know there is this issue with 4Mb SIMMs - @max1zzz has made up some 2 chip, 4Mb ones of late, so will know what's needed for those. Maybe he'll know the incantation for 16Mb ones?
Maybe you'd be interested in ...
Thread 'UK Meetup' https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/uk-meetup.45032/
Could be someone has a "project" compact they'd be willing to let go for a reasonable sum and bring along?
