Can I make my Macintosh Plus play "Chariots of Fire" like the original Macintosh did in the 1984 Macintosh Introduction? Was it really the Macintosh itself that played the song?
I have been searching for a Mini DIN 8 to DB9 cable to use as a null modem cable from my Macintosh Plus. Would an Imagewriter II 590-0332-b cable work for this? Do I need a null modem adaptor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the OS 9.1 version. I included both png and PICT formats. For those of you that don't know, you must use the PICT format in Resedit, the png version won't work. I opened the PICT version in Quicktime picture viewer, copied it from there and pasted it into resedit. This was based on the...
I was able to install the OS 9.1 update. The PowerBook froze at 3 minutes remaining, forcing me to do a hard reset. However, it seems to work fine, I havn't notice any ill effects. In fact, it seems to be more stable than it ever was with OS 9.0.4. I never tried to install the OS 9.1 update...
Well, I have successfully changed the boot screen. This is why I wanted to do this. Quite happy with how it came out. I'm planning on making one for OS 9.0.x and OS 9.2.x as well. If anyone's intersted, I can upload the image here. I used the resedit method btw.
I wasn't able to paste it into anything. I couldn't paste it into the Finder, Quicktime picture viewer or simple text. It's mostly a clean install of OS 9.1, I don't have much installed at the moment.
I downloaded Resedit and managed to find the OS 9 boot screen in the System file. Is there a way to export it so I can find out what the dimensions of the image are? If there isn't a way to export it, does anyone know what size the image should be?
While it would be cool to run OS X on my 1400, I really need to be able to run the classic mac os because of what I use the machine for. It is mostly used to make disks for my Macintosh Plus, and I also connect the 1400 and the Macintosh Plus together via Phonenet. I'd love to run OS 9.1, but...
From what I read, you can't install any version of OS X on a 1400 even with a G3 upgrade card because the 1400 is a nubus machine. OS X cannot run on nubus machines. I do have an OS 9 Install CD, but its 9.0 unfortunately.
I would't like for the OS 9 install on my PB 1400cs to be as up to date as possible. The Software Update control panel doesn't work. Aside from installing the OS 9.0.4 update, what else do I need to install to have my OS 9 install as up to date as it can be? Since the 1400cs is a nubus machine...
I've been wondering if there was a version of Text Wrangler for the classic Mac OS. Do you happen to know the last version of BBEdit that will run on OS 9 that I can use on my PB 1400cs?
Is it possible to develop for 68k Macs on my MacBook running Mavericks? If now, my iBook G4 or iMac G4 (can boot OS 9) running Tiger? Basically, if possible, I would like to develop for 68k Macs, mostly for System 6 on a Macintosh Plus on a modern(ish) Mac. Is this possible? If so, what tools...
About 9 days ago, my 1400cs froze while I was using it so I restarted it and it would no longer boot. I booted off the OS 9 CD and it offered to initialize the disk. I declined and ran Disk First Aid on the disk. Note that I am using a 2GB Compact Flash card via a Compact Flash to IDE adaptor as...
