I've been doing exactly that and it seems to be getting a lot of junk off. Thanks for the suggestion!
I have a parts need list. If anyone could help me identify the specs on these parts it would be helpful. For example, all resistors have a value like 101 or somethign on them... that'll...
You might want to try updating to System 7.5.5. It's a free update, and probably compatible with your iix.
More importantly, have you tried installing this driver?: http://www.vintageapple.org/macdrivers/nic/Shiva_Kinetics_Novell.hqx
Yes you can as long as you have PC Exchange installed. It came with the os starting with system 7. You may have to hunt for it during installation to find it. It may not have been installed.

Thanks White Falcon and trag for your help. Those pictures are a real help. I've found a few silkscreened parts that are only silkscreened - were never put in, and other parts that I'm missing that presumably disintegrated. It's helping me build my needed parts list. It's also good to know I...
Thanks trag.
If anyone could take a good quality photo of the top of a quadra 700 circuit board - I would really appreciate it. It'll help me identify missing parts, and get appropriate replacements. Just something good enough to read the part numbers on the chips, etc will do nicely.
Does...
Does anyone have a quadra 700 schematic? I want to try to resurrect it.
Well my quadra 700 died yesterday. One of those damn Maxwell batteries peed all over the board. Well... I noticed it yesterday.
It ate away a few oscillators/clocks. I've removed a lot of the acid using acetone. I'm...
I use a MDD G4 867mhz as one of my regular "use" machines, so I have some advice.
First is downgrade to 10.4 - Tiger. The reason -- to get the temp down you need to use CHUD 3.5.2. This allows you (automatically) to enable "nap" mode which steps down the processor's power in steps depending...
I think the sweet spot is around 512 - 768mb ram - depending upon what you're doing. I've never had a problem with 768mb ram on 10.4.11 - and that's running many "heavy" programs at once like photoshop cs3 and TenFourFox with many tabs open.
you should be getting both +5 and +12 volts to the hdd. Without the +12v, I don't think the hdd motor will spin up.
Could be a power supply issue. Also the se's pcb caps should be changed as well.
Why is it strange? Capacitor failure is a common issue - and can cause problems like this. It...
@Joshua Coventry: I will take your reply as meaning that you have not noticed a difference. Your reply seems a little impatient. I never said it was difficult or hard - I repair other devices (tv's, whatever breaks, etc.). To clarify my question, I was curious about the tantalum caps because...
What you need is a PDS ethernet card. It allows an ethernet plug to directly plug into your computer. The processor direct slot is the white or black socket on the left side of the computer (take the top off so the motherboard is showing).
I would recommend system 7.5.5 for this to work...
Thanks for hte info - something to try. The audio capacitors are the ones right before the pds slot hole, right? You wouldn't happen to know the uF ratings and voltages so I could replace them with radial caps?
Hi all,
I have an LCIII which was working fine but now has absolutely no audio whatsoever. No squeaks, no interferance or bad ground noises - nothing. I have tried almost everything I can think of - replacing the battery, zapping the parameter ram, checking the power supply's outputs with a...
