John_A, Do you mean something like this? It came with a PowerBook 140 I bought a few years ago. This is the only example of a PowerBook coloured ADB mouse I've ever seen!

Color Classic screen is waaaay too bright. Analog board?

iphillips77, Welcome to the 68kMLA! One of the adjustments on the analog board should be a 'brightness cutoff' which dictates the maximum brightness that can be set via software. I am not too sure about the Colour Classic but I know that this applies to B&W Compact Macs. I hope this helps!

A Macintosh IIci and a Red Maxwell

Hello all, I've just came across a document on the 68kMLA Wiki about 'Macintosh IIci RAM and ROM Pathways'. http://68kmla.org/wiki/index.php/Macintosh_IIci_RAM_and_ROM_Pathways It looks quite helpful for diagnosing trace problems but I don't know how to use it! Any help would be much...

A Macintosh IIci and a Red Maxwell

Hello all, I don't think I explained the ROM SIMM situation this very well in my first post! My IIfx works fine but when I use its ROM SIMM in the IIci it chimes normally, then it plays the chimes of death. With the SE/30, which still suffers from 'Simasimac' after a recap and replacement...

A Macintosh IIci and a Red Maxwell

Hello all, I removed the oscillator, a Saronix 9029 50MHz, then and tested the logic board. Without the oscillator the IIci does not chime/chimes of death no matter what ROM SIMM is present. So I put it back under the assumption that it could be OK and any damage is only external. Could the...

A Macintosh IIci and a Red Maxwell

Hello all, Earlier this week a Macintosh IIci arrived from Ebay that was described as having 'some corrosion on the power supply and motherboard'. I stripped the Mac down to check the the logic board's damage: a red Maxwell battery had leaked (thankfully the Mac was used on its side so the...

Classic hard drive intermittent spin up

macclassic, To use the drive I'm my SE/30 I set the jumpers to SCSI ID '0' so the Mac could use it as a boot device. The data sheet that deals with drive specification and setting a SCSI ID is still available online. The drive was contained in a anti-static bag and its external condition was...

Hello all, I have replaced CR5 with the aforementioned component but I am still getting nothing from the Macintosh. Do the leads of CR5 and CR21 need to be in contact with the metal heat sink? I think I'll call it a day with this Macintosh for the time being! Thanks for all the help!

Hello all, uniserver: Thanks for spotting that capacitor! It has now been replaced. techknight: I didn't have any cans of compressed air so I gave the analog board a good scrub down with some rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. I focused on the two components you mentioned. I reassembled the...

    Macintosh 128k Restoration: Help!

bigmessowires, At board reference CR20 there is only one hole. Larry Pina suggests a 'MBR1045' as a replacement part, which has two legs. A fellow member has photographs of such a analog board with the upgraded component. Pin three goes through the hole on the analog board and pin one is...
