NOTES
----------
-> If OS 9 won't boot you might have to reset the motherboard or PRAM...
I just had this issue on OS X today and remember having it before but I don't know what causes it, it may not be a disk problem like I first thought. It's weird that Mac OS/OS X(at least older version of it) remember the exact location of files.
The big advantage too 8.6 is USB support, though I don't think your machine has USB by default? When I had a Promfoma 6400 I found 8.6 ran faster, weird.
No, not really, it took me about 3 - 8 hours to backup things up(and I skipped some things like the system folder that would not backup properly). I have spent an hour or less trying to fix it. I have had other things to do and was not waiting for a response. I only use these machines a few...
Yes, I used Gparted cause it saved the step of reinstalling Mac OS 9 and unstuffing my Stuffit Archives. The driver partition is still there but it might be incorrect. Do you think if I reverted the disk back to the way it was, it would work? I am finding OS X.2 is not that useful to me on that...
I can't find anything before Mac OS X.4(at least with the search). I am trying to find Mac OS X.2.6. Apparently I need this before I get Mac OS X.2.8. I was able to find X.2.8 update and not X2.6.
UPDATE: Found a "combo update"...
Does anyone know about the Apple Partition Map, maybe Gparted needs to change something in one of the driver partitions in order for Mac OS 8.6 and 9 to see the drive?
UPDATE: Classic does run very well performance-wise but it still takes an extra minute or so to start OS X if all I want to run is OS 9 programs, also I have at least one game that won't run under Classic at all.
Also I am going to see if anyone on the GParted form knows what's going on but...
