PowerMac 4400 with DOS card and display cable

Why would someone do that? Maybe the true identity of the machine is hidden on the mainboard somewhere? The machine is located in my office, so I will not be able to check until Monday.

    Way too much awesome!!

I also got a MBP 15" with a busted screen. Came from the same place as many of my other conquests. I got a cheap new LCD panel from ePay and did the fix myself. The optical drive required some work (jammed mechs) but I managed to repair it as well. Oh, and I replaced the keyboard as some keys...

    A Pismo

I guess this one got chucked because the Uni think "it is too old" or something like that. Or maybe because of the fact that it did not boot. Who knows? This is from the same place I found a Dual 2 ghz G5, which was working just fine. Probably just replaced with a Mac Pro or something. No OS 9...

    A Pismo

Here I go again, this time I found a Pismo Powerbook, with 2 chargers. It appeared dead at first, then after unplugging the backup battery, the machine booted into OS X. Asks for user & password, so I will have to wait until I get home so that I can boot from the CD and do a password reset...

PowerMac 4400 with DOS card and display cable

Hi, Today I found a complete PowerMac 4400, and it has the DOS card inside as well. Along with it I picked up a printer (Canon printer with Apple branding), the keyboard and the mouse. I also got the special split cable for the display for use between the mac and the PC card. The monitor was...

    An original iMac

Just FYI; I got it all running again. I also upgraded the RAM to 256MB The solution was: Got Mac OS 8.5 , which booted fine.I installed it and upgraded the firmware with the files from the OS 9.1 CD.I then upgraded to 9.1. Installed OS X Panther on a separate partition. Works perfectly. I...

    An original iMac

The plastics are still fine. I am having some issues though: I can only get it to boot from a 9.0.4 CD; and it wont install because it needs a firmware update. I cannot install the firmware update as it complains "Your disk is full" (The CD, that is) Is there a way to update the firmware when...

    An original iMac

The iMac also had an anti-theft sticker on it, but it could be peeled off when heated with a hairdryer. If not heated, only a small chip would come off right where you tried to peel, and the rest would remain undamaged.

    An original iMac

Yes, I am :-) I just have been quite busy over the weekend, so the only thing I've done with the iMac so far is to clean it and remote the branding. Pics will follow this evening or something.

    An original iMac

I managed to remove all branding, by using a dishwashing sponge. The etching was very light, so now it looks brand new.

    An original iMac

This is apparently the time of the year that keeps on giving, as my find today was an original iMac. I quickly tested it and it powers on and boots to Mac OS 9. I will test is more once I bring it home from work. It is in good condition, but it has a stupid etched "University blahblahblah" on...

    Story of another Sawtooth

So it is not only me who experiences things like this. On the plus side, the janitor in the office building where I work allows me to take whatever I want from the ewaste, and from what I have experienced the only ewaste that leaves the building is useless stuff that none of the employees in...

    Story of another Sawtooth

Hi, This story has both a good side and a bad side. My wife works at a local newspaper, and she told me that they were clearing out some old equipment from the building. One day, when picking her up from work, I went inside and saw two large cages with at least 20+ Macs in them! There were...

3 Compaq Prolaint DL360 G2 Servers, plus KVM switch

I have a load of DL380 G4 servers at work which I can have if I want them, but MAN are they loud. They are intended to be in a server room for a reason :-) Oh, and to install anything on them you must first configure the RAID controller to set up a virtual drive. It's not very difficult, and...

    Just found a PowerMac 6100/60

I always pick up stuff with the apple logo, regardless of the condition. It is now safely stored in my storage room at work. :-) One day I will probably find another without a PSU or with a wasted case, and then I will be prepared!

    Just found a PowerMac 6100/60

Mr. beachycove has come to the rescue, and has now shipped me a new CD-bezel, the required video adapters and some other cool stuff. Huge thanks to him for providing me with this!! When I get the parts I will disassemble and clean the whole machine, and also check the cooling paste on the CPU...
