I was at my father in law's and he told me he found an old computer at a garage sale years ago. What a surprise to see it was an Apple
Apple II A2S1-32624
Looks clean on the outside but I haven't opened it yet.
Will post pics soon
No cutting needed. I removed all the caps just by gently wiggling the metal head till it breaks off. Then either slide off the black plastic or gently bend the remaining leads till they break off.
You then use solder wick to pick up the remaining leads and solder on the pads.
I didn't have a...
OK I bought some SE/30's and re-capped one. This one did not have a hard drive but I put in a 40GB quantum from another machine in the same lot.
The machine booted straight up into 7.5.5 with no issues! yay. Looks like this 7.5.5 is all that is installed.
This machine has the Asante...
Thanks for posting all this. I will be doing scsi2sd soon. Already have a floppyemu
Once the SD is all set the way we want, can it be cloned (as a backup) using dd in Linux or winimage?
I bought some SE/30's that are missing the hard drive, bracket, and LED
I will be installing a 2.1GB SCA HD with 80 to 50 adapter.
Questions:
1) Where do I connect an LED? I have a bunch of ATX PC LED's with 2 pin female header. Where would I connect this? Or was the LED originally...
I almost bought it myself yesterday! Wish it had a kb/mouse though
However I think you got a decent deal for a harder to find 'Superdrive' model and I think it will only gain value. Enjoy it!
The lack of sound is a classic 'capacitor' issue in SE/30
If you have original caps 25+ years old, its most definitely a cap related issue.
Your recent use of the machine probably finished them off.
The good news is that with a one time re-cap of solid(tantalum) capacitors, your machine...
Awesome thanks for the response. I found a couple 4.3gb western digital enterprise drives so I just need the converter (and to set the jumpers). I would have never figured out the autostart.
The drive has a jumper on 'TRGT unit'. Should I leave that one on?
Do I just get a 68 to 50 converter cable/board and connect to the internal 50 pin connection?
I would set the termination jumper on the drive.
Would this work?
I have a working se/30 CRT that has a slightly burned in menu line (visible when off). Would give up for 35 dollars including shipping. Pm me if interested
4 of the sims were much denser than the other 4. I won't know until I put it back together and boot. I would love to have more than 6gb but who knows
From 'everymac' the m5390 and m5361 were the 40gb and 80gb models.
Not sure how these m5119's were used without hard drive but had network...
Hi I am new to the compact Macs and have a question:
I have a working SE with hard drive and OS 7.5.3. and an SE/30 with only floppy drive. I have blank 800k and 1.44 disks.
How do I create a bootable system floppy disk using just the OS and a blank floppy?
(With PC's you can create a...
