Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Yep, I'd say from the looks of things, you need to format your drives with the device you want to connect them to. If you want to use them on the internal bus, format them from said bus. If you want to use them with the ACARD controller, format them from the ACARD controller. Since nothing seems...

SheepShaver is what I use.
You can even use New World ROM images from one of your newer Mac OS CDs:

Hmm... that is unfortunate! I thought for sure removing the other drives would take care of it. More disturbing is the fact that your older startup disk isn't seen - when you say that, what exactly do you mean? Does it not mount or not even show up in Drive Setup?
I figure you've zapped PRAM...
Yeah, I've got this card in a 9600, and I had a similar problem. It seems that drives attached to onboard buses always take boot priority over drives attached to this card. Have you tried booting with no other drives attached? Or, have you tried at least de-blessing the system folder on any...
I saw that... I didn't know that had some of the inside gossip - like the ID group taking the 520 design off the shelf because of Scully's decision. I always thought it was more of a coffee table photo book, but now I'll have to look for one to wander into my price range!
Yep, they really were included.

Not only is the keyboard included in the specs, but page 4 shows that it was included with the IIgs part number.
Yup, there's a couple of threads on here detailing the experiences of others, but it seems like they work pretty well on desktop Macs. Personally, I've used CF cards w/ Acard adaptors (seen some on eBay in the ~$70 range) and cheapo IDE-CF adaptors in a few Quadras, a PCI Power Mac, a Color...
Spotted this 9500 on the 'Bay...

Looks like it has *all* of its PCI slots filled... but with what??
I recognize a few SCSI cards, but what is that huge connector? Also that one with three rows next to the VGA connector?
What say ye?
Scott is absolutely right, however depending on how you feel about software licenses, a lot of this old software is available on the Internet. Apple used to have a policy of giving away free system software updates, with the thought that you got a license (and free upgrades) when you purchased...
Yep, you sure can use that CF card. You'll need a SCSI-IDE adaptor and an IDE-CF adaptor. I've had good luck with those made by ACARD (model 7720). Be aware that while the IDE-CF adaptors are cheap, the SCSI-IDE adaptors tend to be pricey.
All Macs with 1.44mb SuperDrives can act as your bridge...
Yes, but by this logic, price guides of any sort would not be necessary, as adequate pricing could be established by what the buyer and seller agree an item to be worth. It is useful for 'experts' in the field to come to a consensus and write down what they think an item is worth. Professional...
I can't answer all of your questions.... but I can help with some of them.
As far as the disks, you are right. Pluses and other old Macs format DD disks to 800K using a method that is incompatible with that of DOS / Windows PCs. However, Macs don't use 5.25" floppies, except in rare cases...
Hey now, that's a good idea. I remember one of the reasons I used to go to LEM and Everymac was to check on their prices for used Macs. I bet our group of enthusiasts could do a good job of tracking when something becomes collectible rather than just old.
Plus, most posts included a link to the auction in question! It isn't like anyone here made up an auction to discredit someone. Unlike most Wikipedia articles, we cited our sources and posted our opinions about the facts we saw (e.g. whether a price was too high or the description was wrong). I...
Hey All -
I have a 12" PB G4 867 MHz that just stopped working one day. According to my cousin who was borrowing it long-term at the time, on Sunday everything was fine, and then on Monday it didn't work at all.
Symptoms:
-Plugging in the new-style AC adaptor makes the ring light up green...
