After agonizing over this for a long time myself, I thought it was time to see if I could get some help from some fellow classic Mac gurus. Here's the problem, I am trying to digitize short video clips from my VCR onto my Powermac 7600. Hardware specs: 10Gb SCSI hard drive, 256Mb of RAM, and...
Good luck with that. I use my Powerbook 233MHz sometimes and doing internet it pretty rough on it. All these modern websites really don't play well with Mozilla and Netscape 7. At least you got plenty of HD space. I only have the 2gb drive in my Powerbook and 384mb of RAM. Its a great 9.2.2...
Thats a great deal for $13. Does the sticker on the bottom look like this? This is one on the bottom of my Powerbook G4 12" that I got on ebay. Sorry the quality is so poor, but it reads, "Property of Apple Computer, INC. Expensed Equipment"
G5's are risky though. Last summer I picked up a single 1.6GHz Powermac G5 for $250 thinking it might be an easy fix. Ended up having a fried logicboard or processor so I ended up selling it for $200 to someone for parts. Seems like most G5's that don't work have something serious wrong with...
Ya that ATA sucks, but its a lot easier to find decent sized ATA drives than SCSI ones like on most older Macs. Who knows, I'd have to get more RAM in it though.
Cool. Maybe if I have some spare cash this summer I'll buy one. I never really use the thing anymore, but I'd love to have a Pre-G3 system running at 300MHz. I figure with an ATA hard drive, it has pretty good potential as a dedicated 9.1 machine.
Well MacTracker lists the 6500 as having an ATI Rage IIc with 2mb of SGRAM and the 6400 as having no card, but 1Mb of DRAM. Also, I just realized I put this in the 68k forum, sorry about that.
The only thing stopping me from selling my MacBook Pro and getting a quad G5 is the risk of not being able to run 10.6 when it comes out. I would much rather have a tower than laptop, and the Mac Pro is way out of my price range, so I'd love a late G5. I still may do it, but the loss of future...
I have always wondered if the motherboard from a Powermac 6500 could be used in a Performa 6400. I've had a 6400/180 for years and thought it would be cool to stick a 300MHz board from a 6500 in there just for kicks. About the only difference I can see is the lack of built in RAM and the...
I believe there was an internal modem available for the 2x00 MP. There's even some space inside where one could possibly have fit. So far I've had zero luck faxing with an internal card. I'm not sure if the external Apple Fax Modems are any better. The card I bought is a 14.4MHz Megahertz...

I didn't have any better luck with Mail V. I'm beginning to think that modern SSL email services just won't work with a Newton. I wish I knew how to program so I could just write my own app, but I have zero programming ability.
Well, it wasn't exactly a "normal" 9600. It had the 350MHz Mach V in it, so its a little more rare than your average 200MHz beige Mac. I do agree that $260 is much more than its worth.
I'd see about using xpostfacto to install 10.3 on it. I found that 10.2 was a nightmare on the older G3 hardware (beige G3, Wallstreet Powerbooks). Not to mention, Panther just runs much faster anyway. As far as install discs being computer spacific, I never ran into that until the 10.4 discs...
Ahh, sounds good. I found the handwriting recognition was 100x better on the 2000 than on the MP100, but since you can run OS 2.0 you should be good to go. They make great little tools.
