Its interesting to see these devices come out of Apple. We get to see what happens and what it takes before a finished product hit the market. I'm guessing the iPhone 4 you are talking about is directly to the left of the iPod touch?
That TAM does look really cool! I guessing you bought that...
I like that silver TAM prototype!
Also, talk about a collection of prototype iOS devices! In the 4th pictures, that silver looking iPod touch/iPhone front panel, what is that?
I thought I had seen that colored pencil set before. Apple sells (or sold at least) them at the company store. I picked up a set when I went back in June of 2012.
It has to do with the OS. By the model identifier, it loads up the proper drivers. Since the 5,8 shipped without a DP, it can't load the proper drivers with a standard OS. Thats my guess.
E013 translates to a the 13th week of 1990 in Singapore. Let me check myoldmac's database to make sure.
Edit: Yep, here it is:
Manufactured in: E => Singapore
Year of production: 1990
Week of production: 13
Production number: 11C => 1202
Modell ID: M5390 => unknown Mac

I decided to wipe the Sawtooth and install 10.1. Why? I still have no clue. :p I'm weird.
Anyway, I installed 10.1 and grabbed the 10.1.5 Combo Updater from Apple. I tired to install it, no dice. The Installer app was out of date (an error I had never seen before). Read further into it...
Nice work hap! That PowerBook G4 1GHz looks really cool! Chrome, almost.
Sounds like the PBG4DP is going to need a custom OS. Not surprising, since it was never released. I'm guessing the friend you bought it from couldn't find the original drive?
Maybe if I have sometime tomorrow, I'll pull out the PM6500 and reinstall some version of Sys 7. Maybe I can use Disk Copy to make some 800k floppies of the images. The only Mac that I have that runs System 6 is the Plus. IIRC, the 165 does too, but I haven't booted it up in a while.
I'll pull my 4MB Plus out later and try it. First I need to get it to the PM6500 so I can make the floppies.
Any chance it will work on 512kE (Plus ROMs and FDD)?
Very cool video! I still find it extremely odd to see such a big hole in the front of the Mac. I'm so use to the standard 3.5" drive.
Was anyone ever able to confirm exactly how many Twiggy Macs Apple had made? Maybe there are more out there. :)
Good to know. Thanks byrd!
I'm curious, has anyone used or heard anything about those KingSpec IDE SSDs that are always on eBay? It seems I can get one shipped from the US for around $1-1.50 a GB, but are they any good? If they are, I might just order one and put it in the PowerBook since it...
So my PowerBook G4's hard drive has one foot out the door (its making noises) and its time to replace it. I mean, its original from January 2005, so its going on 8 years old.
My question is, I was strongly advised not to put a 7200rpm in my iBook G4 by you guys because the heat could warp the...
Well, to start you need a OS 8/9 disk. AFAIK, the first New World Macs couldn't boot via USB. They can boot via FireWire, but I have heard OS 9 and earlier is cranky doing so, if it does at all. Get ahold of an OS 8/9 disk, pop it in the tray, reboot holding the C-key.
