Nice! If I ever get my 128k board working, this is what I would be shooting for. Good to see it has been done before.
If you can find another external 400k drive, you should be able to dismantle it for the FDD and stick that in your 128k. That's what I did with the 512kE (then again, I'm...
I went to Goodwill a few weeks ago to see if any Compacts or Apple Monitors slipped through as TVs and my dad saw a small group of laserdiscs on the wall. Didn't buy any, but showed me one and said that they were the DVDs of the '80s.
Pretty neat find!
I made a video of the problem which can be viewed
.
When I had the 128k ROM in, it threw an error of 04E925. I slapped the 512kE (Plus) ROMs in, and the error code changed; 03E925. The second digit changed, the others stayed the same.
04=failed Mod3
03=failed byte write
And all of the...
HDD not spinning up, not enough power for peripherals, etc. Mainly power problems. The caps in the power supply will start leaking. Just need recapping. :p
More then likely, yeah. I think all pizza boxes suffer this problem, if not then at least the Q605, P475, and LC475 all do thanks to them being almost identical.
No problem. If you want to see all the details on it, you can check it here.
F= Fremont, CA. 7=1987. The 3rd and 4th digit will tell you the manufacturing week (unless the serial starts with FC (Fountain, Colorado), then it would be the 4th and 5th digit).
Welcome to the 68kMLA! And congrats on finding an LC475! They are great machines (I have a Quadra 650, identical to the LC475 but with FEETS!), but if it has a TDK power supply the caps are known for failing, and so are the AZTEKs so watch out.
You might be right uniserver. Should I try dropping in the ROM from the 512kE and see if it makes a difference? There shouldn't be any problem put 512kE (Plus) ROMs onto a 128k board, right?
Here are the 47LS chips and their locations in the G and F rows (where the RAM is):
G-1: SN74LS393NDS
G-2: 74LS257ANB
F-1: SN74LS393NDS
F-2: SN74LS257ANDS
F-13: SN74LS166ND
F-14: SN74LS166ND
F-15: SN74LS151AN
I'm thinking that the "E" in the code could mean row E, so here are all the...
I guess now would be the time to learn how to solder. It shouldn't be to hard to figure out.
And if it doesn't workout, I'll just fame it in a shadow box and hang it on my wall. For less then $70, it was worth the gamble.
