I just swap the icon to one I got off Icon Factory so I don't have to look at the default icon. I'm not about to knock the application icon (though I share your sentiment), because I'm too damn grateful for the program!! :)
Beautiful 550. I envy you! :) It's great to see that it arrived with you in such great shape. Enjoy that machine. The closest I've come is having a 550 board in my Colour Classic!
That IS strange. Maybe the former user needed the photos for a project. Maybe they TOOK the photos (interesting). Maybe they were just nationalists. =P
Thanks again. I'll likely go the Alcohol route, as I might as well invest in something that works. I used to have a copy way back in the day, but I can't find the installer or related info. Final question: Can Toast 4/5 mount mds/mdf images so I can avoid having to burn a disc?
Preferably, I'd like to play from mounted images rather than copied discs, though I'd consider that option if imaging didn't work. Thanks for the cdrdao recommendation.
Thanks for all the replies. Tanaquil, Alcohol 120 is not something I've tried yet and may now that you recommend it. What settings would you suggest I use in order to successfully make the copy?
I own quite a lot of old Mac software and I occasionally like to go through and image old CDs and DVDs to ensure that they're backed up and available to me wherever I am. There is one disc that has consistently given me loads of trouble, however, and that's Warcraft II (non-BNE version).
The...
Good luck with those. I've never had much luck with CD-RWs on classic Macs. Maybe an iMac, but rarely with anything earlier than 1998/9. CD-Rs on the other hand work really well all the time. It's a bit of a shame, as they're not reusable, but I just bought a stack of 100 on Amazon and called it...
Nice development! Good work on getting both machines working. University departments and schools are great places to scavenge machines like this. I was given a Mac Classic for free when my old school was dumping some. When I was an undergrad, another department gave me like 10 PowerMacs. At the...
Yeah...I just spent about 4 hours in the 'Utilities' section grabbing a bunch of stuff I'd hate to disappear if the site ever went down completely. I remember I cried my eyes out when Home of the Underdogs (or whatever it was called) ceased to exist. Then it reemerged and I've clearly got...
I have a Classic that exhibited almost the exact same sound issue. That was sorted after a full recap of the logic board and analogue board. Hopefully the same works for you!
1) Quest for Glory 1
2) Lucas Arts adventures (Indiana Jones FoA)
3) Escape Velocity 1 (maybe
4) Prince of Persia 1 & 2
5) Warlords
...to name a few
Yeah. It's definitely a great game. I played the shareware version loads back in the day. It was the first ten levels of the game and it got progressively faster the more you played. Believe it or not, you can still buy the game from the developer! I paid for a licence just like two years ago. I...
I've personally never had much luck establishing an AppleTalk network without the little bits that go in between each computer. To my knowledge a cable between both is simply not enough.
In any case, you do have a couple options to get files transferred over (probably a combination of both)...
I am JUST in the process of retrobriting one of my SE/30s at the moment (and have done one in the past). Basically, yes...just snap the speaker out of there. On my first model, I used a very tiny amount of super glue (Gorilla Glue) when reinstalling the speaker - just enough to keep it from...
