    Yellow Be gone!

I'm running the 40vol test at the moment with very satisfactory results in my opinion. I've done a mouse and the back of a CC and it works well. Unfortunately, I'm in Britain and it's passed the point of no return weather-wise (01 October). With brief flashes of sun and even a cloudy day, this...

    Floppy Emu in LC III

Subsequent to my musings here, I contacted Mike McMaster and he confirmed that the SCSI2SD will run off straight off the SCSI interface, so there's no need to mess around with USB cables or some weird molex to DC adapter. I actually think I'll be doing this at some stage very soon...

    Quadra 700 with SCSI2SD?

A male to male DB-25 cable will do the trick, but I agree...less clutter if the male DB-25 was right on the end of the adapter.

    Quadra 700 with SCSI2SD?

Yeah, uniserver makes an important point on the drives. I've had a lot of luck with eServer 74GB SCA drives if you find them. They tend to be IBM-labelled drives. Think a few of mine are Seagate, for instance. They're still pretty abundant. I recently got two for about £13 on eBay, which I...

Full 030. Been working on my Quadra too much! :p

    Quadra 700 with SCSI2SD?

That adapter gets part the way there, but not fully - it needs termination. Max1zzz is worth talking to if you're interested in figuring out how to modify that board or, indeed, buy a couple boards straight from him that simply do what they need to (that's what I've done).

    Quadra 700 with SCSI2SD?

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. I pretty much view the SCSI2SD as useful in a 'special' machine - in my case, the LC III. However, as wonderful as it is, it's a bit costly (in relative terms depending on a person's disposable income, or the level of their spouse's understanding) to outfit one's...

    LazarusNine's Acquisitions

It was probably a PPC 5xxx. A lot of schools had those. I remember the school my mom taught at had a 5200 LC, which I believe were only sold in the education market. I remember it had a 75Mhz processor, though we all know now how gimped the 5200 series was except maybe the 5260. Anyway, here's...

    joethezombie's collection

Congrats on the original Mac find. There must be loads of people drooling with envy over the circumstances of that discovery - myself included. :) The IIsi is a cool machine. It's not one I ever felt particularly compelled to buy in the past, but there's something quite unique about it that...

That's a great set of kit you have there. I've always wanted a G5 tower. That case is stunning!

    Floppy Emu in LC III

Great news. :) Yeah, the LC III was the machine I bought the Floppy Emu for. Now I have two, one permanently plugged into the LC III and another one that does its duty with all my other machines. BMOW's product is simply amazing. Now if we could just figure out a way to emulate an external...

    Macintosh IIci

Glad to hear it. About 6 months ago, I bought an FPU chip when they were going on eBay for what I now realise was probably a bit much. However, I dropped one in my LC III and was pleased to have essentially upgraded to a full 040. That said, I don't know if the speed effect is a bit of a...

I definitely had a go at every adjustment control on the machine, but can't hurt to keep trying...

Any discernible differences between the US and EU Q700? I totally agree. I think the IIcx, IIci and Q700 are one of my favourite designs. I also can't explain why!

    LazarusNine's Acquisitions

Yeah, for sure. I was pretty impressed with the seller's packing, but it could well have been a perfect storm of events. I think this delivery service was DPD, supposedly 'award winning' (according to "Which?", basically the equivalent of Consumer Reports). Oh well, not irreparable, so I'm not...

    LazarusNine's Acquisitions

Thanks, Apache! You're correct on all counts - I'll make those adjustments after the recap - I'm just pleased it works. :) ____ In other news, shipping's a b***h. Gorilla Glue solved this little tragedy, though. :p

Colour Classic Not Booting After Correct Sequence & Recap

Okay, new update. I just used a screwdriver and easily manipulated the adjustment controls on the back of the CC. I've got a new issue. No matter what I do to the colours, focus, etc., some of the colours (primarily blue) look really washed out. If I raise the red levels, the whole screen goes a...

Colour Classic Not Booting After Correct Sequence & Recap

Massive update (well, relatively speaking): Following mwdmeyer's advice, I washed the motherboard in the dishwasher, dried it, rinced in 99% isopropyl alcohol, dried it and left it in a casserole bowl filled with rice overnight. Today, it boots!!! Any idea how to adjust the tint so it's less...

Colour Classic Not Booting After Correct Sequence & Recap

Well, I've just attempted a dishwasher clean of the motherboard followed by a 99% isopropyl bath. Will let that fully dry and will try again. My multimeter arrives tomorrow, so I'll start the arduous task of testing each via line by line...
