OS 9 is ridiculous with anything more than about 512MB of RAM. I have 1 gig, and I only use a fraction of that. I am thinking about moving the system folder into a RAM disk just to justify having all that RAM. :) But hey... it's cheap. ;)

If somebody were fairly talented and so inclined, I could see a command line OS (like MS-DOS or CP/M) being thrown together in about a month. Think about it... that's definately something the mouse-centric Macintosh hasn't seen much of.

Right. You definately start seeing diminishing returns when using large hard drives and/or volumes pre-HFS+. 7.5 can recognize 4GB volumes, but with a block size of 64K (yuck!).

2GB = 32K block sizes under HFS standard. So yeah... that's about the point it starts getting offically stupid IMHO.

Actually, strike that. Storage wise, it's whatever point you START seeing 32K blocks. I just read that 1GB should have 16K blocks under HFS. Some may even think 16K is too much, but I could probably live with it.

To my knowledge, no. System 7 simply won't recognize HFS+.
