The black ones from China for $7 work fine. I did have one die on me, but, it might have been a bad connection that finally went after rough handling.
JM20330 is what you want. Just wish there was an easy way to drop/lower the voltage to 4.2 VDC into the mSATA instead of the 5VDC... tends to...
All,
What type of RS-232 interface do I need to have on my KX-P2123 to print from a powerbook 5300?
There are 2 interface types I can get for my Panasonic printer. Current loop and non-current loop interface boards.
Does the Mac require a "current" on the RS-232 for printing?
FYI: It is possible to upgrade the RAM in the IIc (4000 and 4100) along with a clock board from A2heaven.
I have one in my IIc (4000) and it works fine. I did have to upgrade my ROM to something newer than "0" for it to work correctly, but that was a very minor hack. (some solder glue on one...
I had to use a OLD sandisk CF-PCMCIA adapter. I have 2 card (one with 7.6.1 and the other with 8.1) that I use for imaging my 5300cs/5300ce powerbooks.
I don't know where I got my old CF<->IDE adapter, but, its the only one that works reliably. not as fast as my mSATA setup, but, I was...
I have an original g3 zip drive and a spare 5300 floppy. I was going to see about swapping the guts around to see if it might work. The G3 zip drive ALMOST mates up, but, not quite and there is some plastic interference.
I'll get around to it next month.. busy with work till then.
I've rebuilt 1 Pismo battery and it was a nightmare.
1) don't even think about used cells off of ebay
2) soldering the terminals is a brutal task... better off either finding a spot welder setup
3) do your absolute best to keep the contact strips intact and write down the circuit diagram ...
I just got a G4 1.67GHz 15" running with an mSATA to IDE adapter... BUT, I have working PRAM battery.
I have NEVER been able to install Leopard onto a G4 with a dead pram ... even unplugging it was useless.
Others who have more magic pixie dust than me can tell you how this might works, but, I...
TP-Link dual band (N600) routers are horrible for mixed band performance. DD-WRT is NOT good at providing stable 5GHz connections with factory or aftermarket antenna on these things.
They are great for the mixed BGN and enabling older WPA, but, I do not look to these for a performance router...
Well, I got my new solder tips and wicking copper braid from Amazon. After some rather nervousness, I did get the connector pieced together from 2 bad ones I had.
Everything is now working... !!!
What would be nice is a simple "apple" drive mount adapter for their goofy 4-hole "small" pattern to the more industry standard on current 2.5" drives.
This way, a thinner/newer SSD (or mSATA <-> IDE) drive could be mounted into an older IDE powerbook. Would only need to be 3mm thick and...
Which modem profile is best suited to the Xircom CM-56G (56K PCMCIA modem) in Mac OS 8.x?
It gets recognized as a "modem" but the profile is not defined.
Any ideas?
Well, the contacts on my DC-DC board are beyond repair. I could try salvaging them from another donor (190) and see about resoldering, but, I'd like to get a DC-DC board that works... first.
I have 2 broken pins stuck in the holes that will not come out. (VERY FRUSTRATING!!!)
I'm going to try...
Working on getting this going a step further, but, I can't get video out (through the factory cable) working to my NEC LCD monitor.
I have one adapter that is just DB15 to HD15 (simple enough, no dip switches) and another with 6 dip switches.
Neither one lights up the monitor.
I have no CRT...
I see this post for 2014 and I am wondering if it still holds true.

The corner where the power connector on my 5300cs is now broken off (one piece, thank goodness) and can be easily re-attached.
But, what have folks been using to fix/re-attach case plastic?
I created a drive image in 6.3.3 and copied it to a CF card, but, now I can't read ("see") it on my other powerbook.
Any ideas? Is there a way to "bless" or fake out Drive Image to see a .img file?
The issue I have is that the 5300cs will not "find" the new drive once it has been removed and rebooted. For some reason, some where in either the nvram or such, it goes looking for a drive that is not there if I remove the original after a hard reset.
The only way I have found to get around...
