Hi All,
Over the holiday weekend I was able to pull out my IIsi motherboard and of my SE/30s to be recapped. Both need their power supplies addressed.
The IIsi is pretty maxed out in terms of what I run it it so I am interested to see if an ATX has been hacked into the IIsi. I have seen ATX...
Yeah, those are the floor mats you can get at Home Depot. I have had them forever but just started using them for the macs. The office/lab is a bit of a mess with about 270 degrees of computer clutter not counting the network gear and printers in the closet to my right in the photo...
Yep, took a quick ride down to Frys in Renton and picked one of these up and it worked just fine:
I found a 2-wire M/F jumper I could connect the speaker to so I get a sound check as well. Now it will be much easier to sort through this stack of RAMs and ROMs...
THx all for the input!!
Great idea! Here is a shot of one form this link:
It looks like you'd need to cut away some of the extra housing so that it could mate with the mobo...is that correct?
Hi All,
I am close to being able to put my SE/30's back together. I'd like to be able to run the machine with the motherboard out of the chassis as I saw someone on this forum doing. What I'd really like to be able to do is leave the stock cable plugged into the analog board then have an...
Conquests seemed the best fit for this post so here goes...
About 2007 when I started my vintage Mac collection with my first SE/30, I needed a way to get files fetched from the interwebs to the Mac form a PC-based home office . I found my way to using Netatalk on Mandrake then later on...
I was recently in your situation and now have Lubuntu Linux running on several old PCs and as a VMware VM on my MacBook Pro. The key thing is to get Netatalk 2.1.6 running on the linux box as this gives you connectivity all the way back to System 6; don't go past 2.1.6. FWIW my SE/30s and IIsi...
Earlier today I won an auction for a Daystar Turbo 601 66mhz and I unfortunately don't have a IIci or supported model or the needed IIsi adapter to run it in my IIsi.
Bolle mentioned in the Trading Post forum:
I would definitely be interested in one of these if a batch were to be made. That...
Read this post and follow the instructions on applefool.com to install Netatalk 2.1.6 on your linux box. Make note of my post on page 3 about removing Cups...that was the only way I could get the install to work.
I have found a source to recap the board and PS, so when then happens, I will take some more photos. I am also going to look at changing the layout a bit. The SE/30 adapter pokes into the fan cavity where its fan grill is/was. Since the fan has already been mauled, I will look at cutting into...
I am not sure why that photo didn't take, so here it is:
Under the floppy sits the Asante daughter card with its rainbow ribbon. The ethernet cable was poached from one of those retractable travel units as it is thin and pliable:
RE the SE/30 Daystar adapter...the only time...
WTM = wafer thin mint...if anything else is added, it may explode.
OK, I had this setup running several years back but never documented it...so here it is:
In this configuration I get 1024 x 768 at 256 colors. If I change to the Apple 13" monitor colors increase to "Millions" but resolution...
I wanted to chime on how awesome this guide is. Before I took a holiday from my vintage macs my office had mainly PCs and I'd run Mandrake, then Mandriva Linux circa 2007 when these distros had Netatalk baked in. With a little fiddling it was pretty easy to have linux as the bridge between my...
Very exciting to see the progress on this!
FWIW, when I was testing the hacked CP from GeekDot, I did have a IIsi ROM in my SE/30 w/ 80 MB RAM. I can easily switch to Stock SE/30 ROM if needed.
RE the slot E occupied by the SE/30 on-board video, would it help or hurt matters if there is an...
My bad in my last post...it was GeekDot who provided the hacked bits, not Bolle (It seems the site's Edit function can't be used to fix such errors after some period of time).
As to my MicroMac adapter and it being different than joethezombie's...mine does register an 040 when installed in my...
Thanks for starting this! Here are working links to the old threads on this topic that are missing content after the site update:
Need help with MicroMac Carrera040 in a SE/30
