Unfortunately I do not have a burner for such a task. Good to here that it can be done. I think the Radius goes on the shelf until I can find a replacement ROM for it.
Here is the Wednesday wack-a-mole update...
I tried with a different switch (Hawking tech wifi router with 4 ethernet ports) and the Asante card works fine even after power off restart. That is great news...Nic works.
So the reason I got the IIci was so that I could run the Daystar Turbo 601...
@Bolle I will have a go at the sticker tomorrow. I am thinking that this card might unfortunately be toast...
@superjer2000 Good idea on the switch. My Asante Nics in my IIsi and SE/30s have had no problem with the D Link however I do have a couple of older units that I can try. While the card...
I pulled the sorta working with coercion Asante out of the IIci and after pulling the ROM from the Radius and cleaning its pins, Slot Info did not recognize it:
Photo show the spudger I used to gently remove the ROM and the info on its back. Are these units reflashable?
I am going to try...
OK, here is that setup:
Asante is in the outside most slot, Radius is next to it and the Nubus closest to the PDS is empty. MacCon is not repeated. I did not get a chance to pull all cards and only have the EN/SC installed as it is now past my bed time.
Thanks all for the input. Here is the progress tonight...
I reverted to an install of 7.1 that:
-did not have the Asante EN/SC software
-did not have the RadiusWare init
-unplugged all NuBus cards and I never had a PDS cache or accelerator in this machine (yet...)
-unplugged everything...
HI All,
I have been working to get this machine back online...
Today good progress was made getting a SeaSonic PS wired up as the IIci PS was not functioning:
The IIci fires up and I have been using the drive that came with the with 7.1 installed. I also got a Radius PrecisionColor...
I am back in town and have hit a snag. I have some odd RAM in a bag that I thought might be for the IIfx board but no luck.
Does anyone have some IIfx RAM they'd be willing to part with?
Exciting stuff. My current focus had been on my new to me IIci however I am feeling currents taking me to see if the IIfx can be brought back to life. I got NuBus Radius video and Asante Ethernet card that can be borrowed from the IIci. IIci has a dead PS that will be replaced with a SeaSonic PS...
Hi All,
Long ago when I was seeking a 32-bit clean ROM for one of my SE/30's I grabbed an entire IIfx board with ROM attached. This board has sat in storage and now that I have some skills with the SeaSonic PS, I was thinking of trying to get the board running on the bench sans its case that I...
My first was actually a reproduction form a guys selling them several years back. I think it was about $100 when I got it (you needed to have the compatible Micron PDS card) when I got it. It works great. I thought I saw one earlier this year selling for ~$400.
THx for the input @360alaska & @MOS8_030. My question was driven by the copy on the lowendmac article that states that there were later IIci boards with that cache on the motherboard. Sounds like that may not be correct.
I bit off topic but can someone tell me if this IIci board has 32 KB on the board? This lowendmac article mentions the cache came standard on later models:
Core System
CPU: 25 MHz 68030
FPU: 25 MHz 68882
ROM: 512 KB
RAM: 1 MB, expandable to 128 MB using 4-SIMM banks of 80ns 30-pin...
My SeaSonic for the IIci should be arriving this week and I will likely do the same as I did with the IIsi which was pull the connection out of the bottom of the IIci PS and connect it directly to the SeaSonic. FYI, NewEgg was out of the 250w so I got the 300w of the same line. I am hoping it...
Yep. I will clean it before I get it recapped. Today I scored a video and ethernet card so I want to try those before the recap. While gathering some stuff for a Good Will run, I found the soft bristle tooth brush that will help with that cleaning.
More good news...the board boots to the drive that came with the machine:
I find it weird opening someone else's drive...I am glad the previous own left only the System Folder on "Susie's Big Toe"
I think I have 4 other 4MB RAMs to get it up to 32MB.
