Hello all,
I am considering picking up (yet another) IIci but I have only some pics to verify its condition. Board looks clean enough (no battery bomb) probably "just" cap juice.
The price is really good, but it's a 2 hr roundtrip drive so I'm a little uncertain.
That being said I wonder if...
@Kamshaft you will never get the lid closed. Get a small radial fan and place it bedside the heatsink somewhere on the MB. so that it blows air on the fins from the output duct.
You can keep it still with four little blobs of Blu Tack. That's what I did
The easiest hassle free way is a usb zip drive on your modern machine and scsi Zip drive on you old one. Or CDR’s which is cheaper but a little less direct.
I am also using with success PISCSI which has a built in file server that can be accessed both from a modern Mac and a legacy machine...

Waddya know.. left it turned off for 30 minutes without battery and it boots fine… maybe it’s a thermal issue… I’m running the board outside the case .. with a fan blowing on the cpu card… maybe it’s not enough to keep other components from overheating …. Or maybe I’m just unlucky!
Hello all, need some help.
My power Macintosh 8500 is no longer booting. It literally stopped working in front of my eyes. It was running the OS and froze. I powered off and on , and now after the chime I’m stuck at the grey screen with moving mouse pointer. (Tried everything to make it go pram...
