I had the same problem with my AR-300M - ethtool wouldn't identify eth1 (the LAN port) - but I later discovered that it worked fine for eth0 (the WAN port). So then all I did was swap the LAN & WAN ports using the Luci interface, under Network settings.

Well it's written in C++, so that's a good start. There's a good amount of abstraction in the code too. Probably not something I'd ever tackle though...

Further to the MPW Emulator, there is also the Retro68 project. I've used this successfully to build a few libraries and apps - all on my Windows 10 laptop. Retro68 also has its limitations - but writing classic Mac apps in a modern IDE sure is nice.
