    PowerBook 1400c and mSATA SSD

Your 'MSATA TO IDE INPUT M811' (391415415261) contains JMicron JM20330. Your DeLOCK (401045785062) is LyCOM ST-173, contains Marvell 88SA8052. Marvel's 88SA8052 bridge chip is newer JM20330, and seems to be more compatible (generally, not always) than JM20330 in hacks/mods/retrofits. However...

    CF As A HD

I felt I was forgetting one of their names. Today I came across it: I/O Crest, IO Crest, IOCrest. In summary: Best Connectivity, Syba, and I/O Crest, are MMUI's brands; and they are just about the WORST branded PC parts I have ever seen. I have of course seen worse quality in completely...

USB on PB1400 or Others? USB Through PCMCIA...

First, important, before I discuss subject, get something straight: PCMCIA was a body of people, an organisation. 16-bit PC Card is a hardware standard. A formal, specified, engineered, standard. (As opposed to a colloquial name for a de-facto "standard".) Defines physical outlines, shapes...

    Drawing pads for old Macs?

I do not know about thirty years, but definitely a long time. I want to put a little more knowledge/links into this thread, if a bit late. Wacom "Penabled"/UD/UP technology is more than twenty years old. Indeed, it was used in earlier ThinkPads. I collected some information about LeNOvo's use...

    LaCie 1992 Pocket Drive

First thing to hit my mind is "termination power: on". My instant reaction after recognising letters, before even seeing the switches. Then, seeing two switches, I do not know what it means.

Aluminum 12 inch G4 died and Powerbook 1400c question mark

If you find the FDD, thecoolracer, then you might want to try booting from Disk Tools 2. To be honest, I do not know whether that disc image is bootable, but I suggest trying. cksum: 1189395009 22375861 PowerBook_1400_floppy_set_Mac_OS_7.6.tar.gz

Aluminum 12 inch G4 died and Powerbook 1400c question mark

Remove 1400's battery (do not discard it, just remove it). It might not do any harm, but it will not do any good to burden charge controller with a shot battery. Do you have 1400's floppy drive (FDD)? I would rather buy a replacement floppy, than CD-ROM, drive.

    PowerBook G4 Charger Question

G4 'Book power connector has a central 2.5 mm TRS plug. Its outer shell (I saw it called also "screen" and "shield") is not necessary for normal Mac operation. It is important that shell be present, no matter what it is made of: it prevents sleeve from contacting anything. Without shell, sleeve...

    PowerBook G4 Charger Question

Whichever direction you need to tilt the plug, try to dent/bend inward the shell. Goal being, to re-shape the shell so slightly (fraction of millimetre), that it pulls centre TRS toward that side in laptop's socket inlet, achieving same effect as your manual pressure.

CDs from Powerbook to a Color Classic - not working

You probably burned HFS+. Before you waste another (CD or DVD) -R, help us to help you by providing more detail about what last you recorded. Put that 'Sony 700MB CD-R disk in the powerbook', open Terminal.app, run 'pdisk -l /dev/rdisk1s0', and post the output. Better to attach a screengrab...

    iMac G3 233MHz trayloader upgrades?

Yes, any Rev A–Rev D accepts 512 Mio memory, two "low density" modules each 256 Mio. Just a few years ago, there were plenty of processor cards for little money in fleeceBay. They must have been pulls from the tens of thousands of iMacs headed to death/disposal.

wireless USB 802.11n driver for Mac OS X

rtusb_d2870-4.1.8.0.dmg was only a wild guess. You have a (supposed) MediaTek MT7601U. Good luck finding or writing a driver for that. If you intend to contact MediaTek, asking them for a OS X driver, then specify need for PowerPC, rather than a ICBM (Intel Chip Based Mac). RAW2019 did manage to...

wireless USB 802.11n driver for Mac OS X

It probably contains Ralink chipset. You might try to find something like "rtusb_d2870-4.1.8.0.dmg". You should post its USB IDs, which can be found in System Profiler (Product ID, Vendor ID, Version).

OS X Disk Utility (OS9 Drivers option) Boot 8.6?

Define Wear Leveling Support? It is practically an absolute must for BLC/MLC NAND drive. Even SLC CompactFlash cards have some spare area since at least 1998 or somewhen like that. If you mean host-assisted wear levelling, then, no: I am pretty confident in my assumption, classic Mac OS and Mac...

    CF As A HD

Here are the basic facts: CompactFlash is spelled "CompactFlash". So many people get this wrong. PowerPC (not "Power PC"), PowerBook (not "Power Book"), MacBook (not "Mac Book"), CompactFlash. CompactFlash is a superset of ATA and PC Card, not a subset. So many people get this wrong. Can't it...

Are you sure Silverlining does not format your drive? Transoft SCSI Director looks like very nice software, perhaps you can try it.

PowerBook G4 12in boots to Blue Screen and then nothing.

Start from CD, run time cat < /dev/rdisk0 | wc -c , or time dd if=/dev/rdisk0 of=/dev/null bs=1m , or something else. Assuming disk0 is internal HDD. If there is no error, then HDD is readable and likely not the problem. edit : I hate this implementation of BBcode.
