    Mac plus and ethernet

Hi, I've got a Dayna EN/SC network adapter on my mac plus, and I have instaled the drivers on System 6.0.8. When it comes to appleshare over ethernet everything works fine. However I'm trying to make it ping my macbook to see if I can use some Internet software on the mac plus while only...

    powerbook 100

I have a powerbook 100 that when started up chimes, but then it fails to boot. If I put a floppy on its external floppy drive it will eject it (no matter what's the content). I disconected the internal drive (just in case it's dead) but the only difference is that it doens't attempt to read...

    RetroChallenge Winter Warm-up 2008

While thinking what I can do for my project I had a revelation! If you are in the southern hemisphere, then it's not the winter warm-up but the summer warm-up! In a way the retrochallenge's name is discriminating everybody on the other hemisphere! This revelation does not solve my lack of an...

    Another 25 Years?

there must be ways of storing the digital boards in such a way that the y can literally last "forever". If they're store in a temperature of let's say 20 degrees in a vacuum, wouldn't that preserve them?

    2008 Website

I'm definately joining the winters retro challenge! I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I quite like the image there in the retrochallenge website. Would it be possible for me to use it on a website of my own?

New Lisa! some questions about what to do with it

I restored pin 9 and there was no change. If I restore pin 20 then it ejects all the time. I guess that I need to get a 400k drive or an 800l I/O ROM. I also need an HD of course so I can actually install the stuff.

    BBC Master!

I have a floppy drive btw, which means that I can avoid hopefully the use of the slooow tape. I was wondering if there's a way to use the serial port to transfer images to the machine? Also is tehre any kind of modern interface that people have done so oyu can use a compact flash or similar...

    BBC Master!

it seems that there aren't any websites about it with comprehensive information about how to copy files to it, how to use it ,and so forth. The first compute ri used in education was an Apple II, so I never got to use a bbc micro or master, therefore i'm looking for info in order to learn!

    BBC Master!

Ok, ok, i know it's not an apple, but well it's retro! I just got today a BBC Master in mint condition! I haven't played with it much yet but it does look quite cool. I'll have to ask for game recomendations and other programs from all those of you who are BBC enthusiasts. I was wondering...

What is your favourite compact mac? (B/W ones)

i would say it's pretty cheap to get it on the UK/ Europe. I payed about a £20 for one and 30€ for the other (with 128mb of ram!). It all depends what you mean by expensive of course. Compared to a classic which is practically worthless then it is expensive.

    apple lisa!

It seems that the trick when bidding on a lisa is to come second on the auction! If you come first something beyond your control will happen to prevent you from aquiring it!

What is your favourite compact mac? (B/W ones)

Mine is the mac plus! it´s the one i used first, and it´s definately the one that was really powerful for its time. Besides it was the longest mac to be in the production line. My second favourite has to be the SE/30 simply because of it power and expandability (a bit limited though).

New Lisa! some questions about what to do with it

Reconnecting pin 9 has no effect. Ie, it reads but sloooowly. same as before. It might be slighty quicker, but then again it's probably just my impression fueled by my innermost desire to get the lisa alive and kicking :p I'll try to redo the images, but since they boot i doubt there's...

    Lisa Sales Presentation Video

I would say vintage is over 10 years old really. Basically when 'modern' tasks are difficult to do on a machine. It's obviously difficult to draw a line. Is 9 yrs 360 days not vintage but 10 years and one day is? In my personal collection nothing exceed 1994, that is 13 years from today. And...

New Lisa! some questions about what to do with it

thanks again for all the detailed info. The pinout numbers seem to be the same since I got those numbers in the first place from the Sun remarketing do-it-yourself lisa guide. Assumming the information there is correct then the pins should be ok. They do mention that the 800K drive could go...
