Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
It could be the PMU playing up. Mine did this and the procedure for getting it up and running again is somewhat hit-and-miss.
From memory you need to unplug the machine from the mains, remove the main battery and then leave it for some time (the advice I remember is over-night but I seem to...
You can use pretty much any size drive you like but it's the version of the OS that dictates how you'll be able to actually use it. Anything before OS 7 is limited to using partitions of up to 2Gb (i.e. the drive would need to be partitioned into 2Gb chunks) and OS 7 to 7.5.1 is limited to 4Gb...
Could be that the 3500 doesn't have the same hard drive 'quirks' as the 3400 (I hope so - it'll make life sooooooooooo much easier for you) - not 100% sure though so probably best to take it as a 'if things start going screwy then maybe...' bit of info
No problems sharing the boot disk (if I...
Ooooo I got one of those a few months back (well the 3400 but what the hey) and they're funky.
A word of warning though, mess with the hard disk at your peril. My machine came with no OS and no end of playing with it would get it up and running again. Apparently the Stylistics use a strange...
Good place to maybe look for a keyboard and mouse is http://www.sunrem.com/
I got a keyboard a couple of years back from them and, as I remember it, they didn't actually have it listed but a quick email just to ask anyway came up positive. £80 shipped to the UK wasn't too bad...I suppose ;)
Well I managed to get some time yesterday to sit down with the box of tricks and...she's a winner.
Created a 3.5" boot disk from the Apple site, unplugged the Disk ][ controller card, re-configured the slots (set slot 6 to be onboard disk controller) and it booted up no problems. Then powered...
This might sound like a stupid question but have you tried adjusting the screen controls? From memory I had to pretty much strip the machine down to get to them (as well as keeping the 'system open' switches pressed) but the display on my machine was totally shot to pieces but a quick tweak here...
Ok. The 3.5" drive is a nice external unit but the 5.25" drives are both the older Disk ][ drives (hence the card). I'll try removing the card and hooking up the external 3.5" drive and see if that helps any
I see. I thought that it would just dump me straight into the command line.
So looks like I should be able to just create a boot disk via an older Mac and off I go...hmm, sounds almost too easy ;)
The 5.25" drives are connected to the Apple ][ disk interface card but the 3.5" drive just...
My IIgs turned up yesterday and it's...interesting.
Sold as 'untested', this thing came with an Apple graphics tablet, twin 5.25" drives (incl. interface card), an external 3.5" drive, gamepads (plugged directly into the motherboard), the iigs RAM/expansion card, and an Orange Micro card with a...
I can only commiserate with you on this one. Got a 2400 a couple of months back and it simply refuses to play ball. Got it working a couple of times by unplugging the PSU, removing the battery (totally removed the PRAM battery) and letting it sit overnight with no power whatsover. Then reset the...
Thanks for the heads-up on the video connection. I'm hoping that my trusty Eizo will handle it and that the '15 pin connection' that the auction talked about is either VGA or good old Apple 15. If not then I'll just have to get 'creative' ;)
TBH I expected it to go for a whole lot more than...
Been pretty quiet on the liberation front recently and, while I realise that they're not exactly Mac orientated, there is a slight Apple tang to at least some of this lot:
Acorn A7000 - Fully working with 4Mb RAM (now upped to 20Mb), a 2Gb hard disk, and RISC OS 3.6. Hooked it up to my PC...
Nah. You want to sell the 2400c to a UK based collector who's user name includes the letters 'T', 'h', 'e', 'N', 'i' and 'l'
That's definitely what I'd do ;)
I'll have a look tonight when I get home from work and see what I can dig out. As for price then if you cover the postage (and maybe added on the price of a pint ;) ) then I'd be happy
No problems :)
As for RAM, the Quadra 650 uses 72 pin SIMMs so they're usually pretty easy to get hold of via eBay. As you're in France, shipping from the UK wouldn't be too bad so, if you run out of other options, I might be able to dig some modules out.
