Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I've also got this problem (for quite a while, actually). I have replaced all the parts that where recommended to replace by the gamba-site, but still no cigar. I've also measured all the resistors on the neck-board, everything measured fine. Could somebody help me to diagnose the problem? I've...
Ah, there we go again...
You worked then on quite recent models, because all the older Philips CD-players had the nice magnetic swing-arm mechanisms.
The newer CDM12 & 14 were (and are) a lot worse, they already give problems if you only look at them }:)
Oh well, at least they...
Ah, the old Sony's...
There were a couple of models in the ES-series that had indeed problems with an IC (I haven't got an idea which one it was), which ran way to hot, which caused all kinds of weird problems.
I'm more a "Philips-guy", I own several nice Philipses, like the CD880...
Yeah, it would be kinda logical to have a limit.
I order quite regularly op-amps from National, for my high-quality CD-player (yeah, I'm kinda audiophile :) )
They ship up to 5 types of things per week, at a maximum quantity of 5 per type.
That is really nice of them, because now I can try...
You can try ordering one via the Bourns sample service.
I know this isn't really a "fair" way to obtain parts, but at least you can get the part this way.
Oh yeah , it works !
Conflict Catcher did it again !
Thank you very much, beachycove !
You're my hero of the day !
Now, let's do some vintage webbrowsing !
That awkward moment when the Macintosh Garden is offline for maintenance while you need it...
EDIT : Whoohoo, I found it on the Mac GUI City !
Let's try this out !
Hello y'all !
I just got a Asante EN/SC Ethernet to SCSI converter !
Yeah, it's the old dark gray VHS-size box, to match the PowerBook series of that time.
The software, the Asante EtherTalk Installer (v. 5.6.1), detected my box so it installed the right software for it.
After it asked to...
Well thank you, Phreakout !
I (of course) read that page, but I guess I must have overlooked that paragraph.
The turning of the pots didn't work, so I'll measure the resistors and replace them if needed.
I think I will resolder the whole board, because, in the glimpse that I saw the board...
Well, let's keep it short.
A couple of days ago I turned on my beloved SE/30, with a recently recapped motherboard, and instead of a happy Mac and boot sequence I got really strange diagonal lines.
The displayed image is also way too wide, it "leaves" the borders of the screen.
Take a look...
Whoa, that white box is uhm... VINTAGE }:) :beige:
@tt Mine does make the hum, for about 2 seconds, and then it's gone.
It may be a capacitor load or something like that.
I'm extremely sorry for my late reply, it has been a tremendously busy week.
I made some nice shots for you; just take a look :
There I was recording something off my iPod (works really well !) to edit on the Mac.
I also edited Nyan cat }:)
Here a shot of the monitor imaging the sound...
Could you post a pic of yours ?
Now you've made me quite curious :beige:
Mine is actually an Atari A/D, judging from the sticker on the underside of the black box.
Btw : I will shoot some nice pictures for you, YES YOU WHO'S STARING AT THAT SCREEN
Just for fun :beige:
@tt It surely sounds great !
The cable is AFAIK a standard DB25, with no strange crossings.
At least I use a standard DB25 cable and it works amazingly good.
I only had to rip the (s)hell off the cable to make it fit properly on the PDS-card side.
Really simple, isn't it :
But why can't I...
The version on the Macintosh Garden is really old - 2.02 if memory serves my right.
I downloaded my version from (also) an obscure Sampler site.
Here, I mean : http://emax2.com/digidesign.htm.
I must say, it was well hidden
Download the 2.7 version, because 2.82 is only an updater...
Ah, please PLEASE post it on the Macintosh Garden (or upload it just here) ! ;)
It would be nice if you saved it as a Stuffit 1 .SIT, so everybody can unpack it easily.
It takes a little more trouble with .image files.
That would be too awesome, because TurboSynth can't be downloaded...
