I went to start up my Classic II last nite and it came up with a checkerboard pattern on the screen. A bit of Googling and it looks as though it's a hardware problem, which means I'm screwed > :( Even if I could even find some long torq screw drivers, a set would probably cost me $40 over...

This poor fellow's Classic II squeaks! Any ideas on what it could be? He's asking for help ... :?:
¥2000's not bad for a 520. Collecting classic Macs seems to have declined in Japan ... at least, on Yahoo! Auctions the classic Mac section is pretty anorexic these days :-/
Thanks for all the replies. For now they're sitting around until I can decide what to do with them.
I guess I'll dig out my old ethernet card and use it for SSH or something ...
Got a call from work asking if I wanted some PowerBook 190s. They came with AC adapters (one's dead.) One 190 works fine, the other has a dead display? Nothing shows up, but it chimes and disk seems to work fine.
They gave me one a year ago so that makes three [:)] ]'> What to do with them?
Thanks for the help :)
I found a pin setup guide on the internet and got it to 350mhz; I don't have enough jumpers to do 300mhz [xx(] ]'>
If going from 400mhz to whatever doesn't make a difference, I'll fool around with energy saver when I get home tonight.
I've got an overclocked B&W G3 I was given a while back. I use it as a server, but since it's on almost 24/7 my electricity bill has gone up. I'd like to return it to the stock 300Mhz (it's at 400Mhz now.)
There are overclocking instructions here: http://lowendmac.com/macdan/02/0710ek.html...
I've got a 550Mhz TiBook - it's a work of art. It served me well for many years. Since the keyboard on my 12" is currently busted, my TiBook is going back into service as my work computer.
I always wanted the 1Ghz model, but it still sells in Japan for $800+ [:(!] !]'> [:(!] !]'>...
Fixed it
The problem was the RAM sticks were put into the wrong slots. They need to be ordered correctly.
I hope this helps anyone who has the same problem.
I was just trying to install some new RAM and now I've completely b0rked everything up.
I have a G5 1.6ghz that originally had 768 ram: 2 128 sticks and 2 256 sticks. I bought 2 1gig sticks of 333 MHz PC2700 DDR SDRAM and put them in. When I try to boot I get no chime and the power light just...
I think I know which site you are referring to. I ditched that place years ago because the people there were way too far up their own butts. Too much snobbery and pulling rank, as well.
Much better people here.
Sorry for posting this in the wrong section :x
I was trying to see if I could beam things between my Zaurus & TiBook, but I don't think that's possible. Oh well, thanks for the help :)
I'm on my TiBook right now, OS X 10.4.9. How do I got about using the IRdA port on the back? I'd like to see if I can beam things back and forth my Zaurus for example :?:
I was able to use Apple Works (dunno the version, maybe 6.x?) on OS 9 to view notes from my MP2100. Even showed the drawings I'd done, which surprised me.
I think I used Newton Connection to dump all the notes onto my Mac, then I opened the file with Apple Works.
