Just got a Macintosh Plus from local auction site. Comes with Macintosh Plus 1Mb, Mouse, Keyboard and a box of original manuals (with disks).
Too bad the case is yellowed and so dirty. Also, I think it has a bad power supply as it makes boot beep continuously, followed by some "geep" sound that...
Woo.. which cable? :p
Just tested the card. It is functional... however I can't get it working when:
1. the Audio cable is properly connected
2. the Hard Disk power extension cable is properly connected
Yea, I don't know why... it powers on without making a chime. I checked the manual many...
Yea, it's the 166MHz Pentium card...
I just tried that on my 8600. I tested it with a VGA screen but it's just blank - no signal. Not sure if it's the video cable's fault or something else...
(I'll have to unpack my 6100 and AudioVision 14 if I really want test the card.)
Last year I got an Apple PC Compatibility card without the cable, so I can't do much with it.
This evening when I was walking around (an about to leave, again) I saw a box of Apple DOS Compatibility card sitting on the shelf of a store.
So I walked in and asked the stupid question: "Is it for...
Yesterday when I was walking around in the old town, I saw a Pismo sitting on the shelf of a store when I was about to leave that place.
So I quickly checked the Mac and asked the guy, he said it's for sale: only HK$500 (About US$64.515) 8-o
That is a PowerBook G3/500MHz/320MB RAM/12G...
Woo... haven't been here for awhile :p
Thanks for clarifying about "Hong Kong". :b&w:
Parts is rare to find nowadays... but I managed to get three 50 pin SCSI Drives few weeks ago! A 4GB, 2GB and i forgot... about 500MB. What a pity the 2GB Drive is dying... (It was used in a video...
Uh, I don't have any external floppy drive... 50 pin SCSI Drives are rare to find nowadays in Hong Kong :(
I think the PSU is really weak because, well, after power off for hours, it shows the checkerboard pattern again. :(
We will see :)
Two days ago when I was scanning the local auction website I found a Macintosh Classic :D
I paid HK$250 (about US$33) and grabbed this little Mac home.
It was having a bad PSU, causing the screen so wavy. Checkerboard pattern also appear when I power on the computer. So I washed the...
Green/White powder around, probably leakage from the original PRAM battery.
Weird... I was bored and keep on pressing the PMU Reset button but it still ignoring me, so I closed the lid (hardly) and it chimes... then booted 8-o
I played with it for awhile until it crashed suddenly and sleeps...
Finally I grabbed the PowerBook at HK$111. Pretty cheap as a parts machine.
I tried to power it on but it appears the GLOD or Click of the Death.
So I opened it and had a look and found that the PRAM Battery should be new because it was a mess around the battery but not on the battery.
Now...
Hello all :b&w:
I saw a dead PowerBook 2400 floating around a local auction website and starting price is just HK$99. The seller should be an experienced Mac collector and he says probably the motherboard is dead (Green Light of Death). That's why he is selling it as parts.
I've got a...
I installed four 4MB RAM into bank A (SIM1, SIM2)
The result is the same.
It can't remember the time. So PRAM battery is dead.
Vertical lines still appear after I clean the RAM and slot with alcohol.
Mystery unsolved. Could be motherboard problem. I've put it back on the shelf as decoration...
Thanks :D
I took eight RAM modules from the IIci and each four of them are manufactured by Samsung and OKI. So I installed the four OKI 4MB RAM into the SE/30 and so it has 16MB.
Since the internal HD is dead, I boot System 6.0.8L from Boot Disk (System Startup). The vertical bars appears...
I got a SE/30 which has a dead Floppy Drive and Hard Drive. But there were no vertcal bars (jail bars) on the screen. Things just going wrong and I don't know why it has vertical bars on the screen now.
I tried to reseat and replace RAM but it doesn't help. Any other possibilities for this...
