    Finally, a LUNCHBOX!

That looks like a very unique design. Never saw one quite like it.

    backup on old Mac

External SCSI drive or Zip100 for smaller amounts of data. If at all. I can't say that i have important or unique files on my macs. For my real stuff i have a terribly loud 1.4TB Raid5 AMD Athlon Box that turns itself on once a day, sucks in all the new stuff from the local computers and some...

List of what you are working on!! Vintage Hardware Fixes/Ida

Gorgonops, that reminds me, some keyboards have capacitors inside. Could be that the power distribution is slightly off because one of them died. OOM, neat trick. I just have one good battery that i take out if i'm done playing. It should work for years to come :) .

Aren't the mainboards multilayered? How does one reverse engineer those?

    Extra cooling for hotter ICs

The tape on the ones i received from dx.com is made by 3M and once you stick it on, it better was the right position. I wonder if it's generic tape or something special with better heat conduction property. dx.com also has heatsinks made of copper, for a higher price of course. Might be...

The command line options from the screenshot should help you, and they should work with windows too.

It went to another buyer, for 3,50 Euros! Darn.

List of what you are working on!! Vintage Hardware Fixes/Ida

I'm playing a lot with my iMacs lately. One will be restored to original (32mb ram, 2mb vram, 4gb hdd, 8.1), decapped, cleaned and put into long term storage. The second iMac will be beefed up, i already got it to 6 MB VRAM and 2 x 128mb ram (my 256mb PC100 SODIMM stick is seen as 128mb only...

    Extra cooling for hotter ICs

Those cool down my DSL router, which had the tendency to crash in the summer. http://dx.com/p/aluminum-cooler-heat-sink-chipset-for-ram-memory-w-type-8-piece-set-35816 Can't beat the price, since it includes shipping. I have ordered many small parts there over the years, without problems.

    Mac OS 8 - 8.6 -- Are you a Fan?

I would say that 8.1 has some USB support, since it was shipped on the original iMac.

Just to make it clear, i never provided a link to anything illegal in this or any other thread. Search words for a search engine aren't links, nor illegal. Not yet anyways.

    Basilisk II sound

If i understand my local laws correctly it's not only illegal to use them, but to rip them in the first place. Even if you own the hardware. In fact, every action that is designed to circumvent hardware restrictions, like reading roms, firmware or copy protected media, is illegal. But they will...

    1/2 AA 3.6volt (less than) $1 buck ea. - /w catch.

I always wondered what would happen if you would put a 3v lithium battery in a mac. They are a tiny bit larger, but should fit. 6 pieces for 2 Euros, for cameras i believe.

    Ram

Free ram is always a nice surprise. ;D I too have a box of assorted ram sticks. Some date back to before time itself it seems. |)

It is! ;D Would another rom file help ypu with Mini vMac? . However, i'm not sure about the legality, so i don't provide the direct link. The Macintosh Liberation Army must be protected against unnecessary legal risks. :approve: BTW, i have nearly perfect sound with BasiliskII...

Post your favorite Hacks & Mods here!

I guess it's all about how many macs you have. If you have one, or just a few like me, and you don't have a constant supply of new 68k macs, you tend to preserve instead of remix. That said, if you have spare macs to remix, by all means, remix! |)

I don't have anything to show in the hardware department. But once i wrote a webserver in /bin/sh, that should count for something. :D

If you can, play with --idlewait true/false , --fpu true/false and --jit true/false . It's just a shot in the dark, but might help. Basilisk is quite old and by now development has practically halted for years. I put all my hopes in Mini vMac.
