I can answer my own question: 80ns is fine 512kb are onboard, to get the maximum of 1MB you need 2x 256kb. Once again Everymac has wrong information:

Before i order 2x 512kb VRAM for my Quadra 650: Is there any information i need to know in regards to latency of the chips and a 40MHz overclock? Is it possible to use 2x 1MB VRAM? The documentation i have found says 2x 512 is all that's possible.

I would vote for a Raspberry Pi as well. I'm thinking about buying a USB to serial adapter for 3€ and quickly hook up macs using that. I have a unused RPi0 that could do the job. Not sure how, but I'm sure there is a howto somewhere.

As for the recapping of the power supply, it should be noted that it's easy to replace it with a modern flex atx one, these can be had for 40€ and up. It would even fit into the old one if you would gut it.

Recapping is one thing if you know that all the traces work and the chips legs aren't corroded. Repairing a board is an entirely different thing, it most likely costs hours of concentrated work. To be honest, i would buy another working board and sell this as not working. I'm in Germany and...

I have one (LC CPU, 32MB Ram, but only 512kb Vram), tried to get it to boot recently with a fresh battery, but it's dead. I suspect the power supply has a problem. The logic board seems fine and is scheduled for a recapping. Hopy you didn't pay much, i think i got mine for 20€ 15 years ago.

May i ask what the financial damage was? Any more hardware info or is it just a regualr Plus otherwise? A really cool conquest, i'd bet there aren't 22 of them still around. :giggle:
