cpu cards have a huge heat sink , but i would bet the paste is hard and useless at this point. Takes a minute or 2 to remove it and re apply paste. I have done it on a 7500 I have.
From what they are saying a pci card will not have its relevant 3.3 volts needed. The board itself works fine, but the pci will not work from how I am understanding it. I would guess they got this info from years past Takky Hacks for a color classic.
does that mean the 6500 case does not have the 3.3 volt lead from the power supply to the harness but the 6400 does? do the 630 series have the 3.3? Just asking.
if its a sit file, put on a real mac and expand on that mac and it usually will repair the fork on expansion. I download on my intel 2015 iMac, put on a zip, into my color classic (same fork problem) then expand on the CC and bam files are all good.
Back before I really cared what I did to them. I was pretty ruthless. My first color classic we painted red and made green felt leaves on it. I still shake my head at that. That was 20 years ago tho.
they all seem to have brown a red a yellow and black and white on the edge connector. Without pulling it apart I guess it maybe pinned out differently. In the road apple articles it lists the 6360 as an upgrade and it has a pci slot so what is the problem with the 3.3 volts? Isn't that made...
I guess I have not tried anything more than a USB card in the boards, but a 6400 and 6500 boards work in 6200 cases. the edge connector is the same. I will look at the wires for the power on that side.
I use my color classic as my bridge mac. It has the 550 board making it a color classic II, with an external HD,zip and cd rom connected to the network and internet I can get just about anything to it that way and make anything for other older macs with it.
the 6xxx series desktops share the same back plane with the 63x series. the 5400, 6400 and 6500 all share the dual pci riser and backplate. You can switch the backplates and risers. I have not tried an 040 in the ppc tower/all in one but i am sure it would work.
battery leak? could be power supply also. most dont need a mac cracker. Just set it on its screen on a towel and smack up on both sides at the same time. Of course take out the interrupt switch first.
