I understand, I am just saying he said use a portable with the wrong power supply without the battery on his site.  With advice like that just be careful.  Maybe he had newer gear on lockdown without relizing the portable was so different he was hurting it.

Just FYI they say its ok to use a later powerbook power supply on a mac portable, so be wary as they dont know what kind of damage they can cause if they dont understand how stuff works.

if you turn on virtual memory the used ram will go down.  Its a little perk.  The system only slows down if you exceed the real ram limits, but it gives you more real ram with it turned on its a great perk.  Its the same as ram doubler without installing anything.

I have that unit pictured and it needs a power supply.  I have a larger later model that does not require a power cord.  both have power cord spots because with scsi you have to add power.  the later unit is usb powered.  I got a 5 volt power supply to fit from goodwill, it generic but only cost...

The video card has the strange end of the cable, if the monitor needs it, not sure how not having the video card would work.  The cable on the video card side will not fit a DB15 port.  Its different.

yes the 520 is the same as the 540. only the C changes the screen.

ram doubler uses hard disk space for memory, its slow but allows more programs that need more memory.  with 32 mb personally I would turn it off as 32 is a decent amount for most anything the se30 does.

Tough to ship any spindler plastic macs anymore, especially with a cat installed.  I had my macintosh tv sent art face down in the box.  Came completly intact.  The man I got it from was a old tv guy from back in the day and had a clue.

should be able to boot into 7.6 on the 7600 and install 7.5 or 7.6 onto the drive, just do custom install so it will boot onto any mac supporting those OS'es.  You can always remove unneeded stuff later.

It literally looks like a regular external rodime stuffed insie the plus.  I have a rodime and a half lol no top case on the second, both still work and it looks just like that.

Install airport.  I guess double check connections inside the cube to motherboard also. G3's will not install airport usually.  Its why they had a stand alone installer much like 68k/powerpc and ethernet cards.

nope its proprietary but uniserver made a cable to use regular desktop drives or scsi2sd units in it.  check ebay as he was selling them there last i looked.

I use the dishwasher.  I will say LC's have one silkscreen that was found to be incorrect on th ecapacitor for one capacitor.  You may want to compare the caps, no matter what the replacements are.  Uniserver listed it a few years ago.  I am not sure which one it was.

Conflict catcher helped with alot of extension and control panel issues.  ATM was always a big one that interfered with everything.
