No, the Rage 128 can't drive two monitors simultaneously. Plus, it doesn't support Quartz Extreme (the acceleration you mentioned earlier). Pretty much anything else will do Quartz Extreme (any ATI Radeon or nVidia AGP video card with 16MB or more of VRAM). To get two displays simultaneously...
Wallstreet and Lombard both have 66MHz system busses and can use PC66 SO-DIMMs. If someone went the cheap route on the Wallstreet and only used bare-minimum spec PC66 SDRAM (yes, Apple says you need PC100, but you really only need PC66 - the RAM operates at 66MHz), it may not work in the Pismo...
Umm, doesn't the machine's badge tell you that? It should say one of the following:
1400cs/117
1400c/117
1400cs/133
1400c/133
1400cs/166
1400c/166
The 2nd number (after the "/") is the original processor speed. Alternatively, you can take the PowerBook's serial number to...
Who said anything about playing 720p content? I said I was playing back 480i content on a 720p TV (actually, it's a 1080p TV, but the iBooks were set to use 1280x720).
Regarding Hulu, indeed it is no surprise that it chokes. I have played video from Hulu (content also probably 480i, but it is...

Huh? Obviously one shouldn't expect to play 1080p video on any G4, nevermind a 466MHz one with a Rage 128 video card. I didn't get the impression that was what Trash80 was planning on doing, though. If all you are trying to do is browse the web and use the HD TV as a stand-in for a...
The stock video card in a Digital Audio is a Rage 128 which should have a VGA port and an ADC port. If you have an ADC->DVI adapter (such as the one made by Belkin) and a DVI->HDMI cable to connect to your TV, it should work fine. The Rage 128 can drive 1920x1200 (according to...
My experience is that getting an HD TV to work with a Mac is a major pain in the butt. Unless you've got a DVI->HDMI cable, prepare to do some fiddling with resolutions, SwitchResX or DisplayConverterX.
I have tried to connect two iBook G4s, a PowerBook G4 (15" aluminum), and a Digital...
Tom et al,
I gather that the theme itself isn't portable, but if you need Platinum graphics for any theme work you are doing, you are welcome to steal some from the PPCMLA. I have no experience with phpBB3, so I don't know if they will work out of the box, but I am nevertheless happy to make...
"Billy Mays, here!"
I'm thinking that the IDE controller doesn't know how to do slave devices so the second card will be MIA. But it would be an interesting exercise at least.
Peace,
Drew
Back in the sunset of OS 9, there was rumor that Orange Micro was going to come out with a USB 2 PCI card with drivers for OS 9. In fact, I swear I heard that there was a demo program of the card. So if you are lucky enough, you might be able to find the tech demo and actually get USB 2 on OS...
Only the WaveLAN chipset cards work in OS 9 as "AirPort PC Cards." In OS X, only Broadcom chipset cards work as AirPort PC Cards. Consequently, no single card is supported by Apple in OS 9 and OS X. You'll either have to swap cards when you reboot or use a 3rd party driver.
Peace,
Drew
Quite. That isn't how mv works. But if you have a file named X11 and you try to move something else into /etc/X11 that you think is a directory, then X11 (the file) will be replaced with whatever you are moving.
That's why I always do mv blah.txt /etc/X11/.
If X11 isn't a directory, mv will...
I'm glad for you, and I'm not trying to argue with you. All I am doing is indicating what I think is a healthy attitude to have when collecting computers. I do my share of collecting worthless pieces of electronics (mostly Macs), but I also try not to get emotionally attached to the idea that...
Well, you are welcome to hold onto them until the. For your sake, I hope they don't turn into $10 pieces of junk that you offload at a garage sale because your family is screaming at you that they want a place to park the car.
This is bad logic. Commodity tools are virtually never collectible...
