Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I have not forgotten the fireplace! Just didn't want to mention a scorched compact around the MLA. They got guns, y'know... The Mac TV playing the fire video was a sweet touch too. Your son did good work!
I haven't been in Tekserve for years, but I browsed their online tour just now and one...
Keep us posted, PB 100 is a sweet find.
And you can never have too many compacts, I've been wanting to make a living room set (couch, chairs, etc) out of stacked compacts ever since I saw the Tekserve booth at Macworld Expo 2000, I believe it was. Complete with Lisa foot rest. 8-)
The Apple Service Source Solution was so lacking I just had to share.
Can’t connect/disconnect MiniDock
Replace mechanical latch.
Luckily Trash80's solution is a little more complete. I tried to dig up what Apple had to say, but that's it... They go on to show replacing the latch but it looks...
Another very cool compact Mac! I'd love to have one of those as well, or a Classic II. For some reason I haven't owned a Classic, Classic II or Performa 200. If I was going to chose one I'd go Classic II/Performa 200.
I promise to try really hard not to steer this conquest discussion severely...
While watching the end of the Super Bowl I find it funny they call the Giants "World Champions" while it's limited to US teams. Kind of like the baseball World Series. Are we the only country that does this?
You're certainly welcome on the manual. Agreed on the Genius Bar. Looking into the manual it seems to agree with what we've talked about.
That was from "Internal hard drive does not spin" but the process seems logical for this situation. Didn't read every page, but saw another boot failure flow...
I'm not convinced either, but if nothing else it's nice to have. The power adapter is a bit odd. Is the ring around the plug starting to separate at the seam? I only ask because I've had those die that way, but the ones on my 12" PowerBook G4 were worse. They'd always intermittently work before...
Maybe for a profector/TV. Back when I was in middle school we had 5X00s with composite out to 27" CRT TVs in the classrooms. One per classroom with the machine being for the teacher's use, that is. No one laptop per student back then. I had my PowerBook 5300cs (unless I went retro with the Duo...
I like it here. Still gotta make my way down there. All the Aussies I met while selling boat parts were always laid back and cool Except for one. There's always the exception. Don't get me started on that one. Worse then the ones here who think you're supposed to drink a six pack before...
Saw this on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Macintosh-Compter-System-Model-LC575-/260949567315?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc1ce6753
The title says it all. I haven't seen this mod before. Or that much dirt on the back of a non-functioning machine not cleaned off it before asking...
Meh, I should have looked at the manual on that one before suggesting the cable. Ignore that one. If I had to guess that 40 GB drive will work in another machine. But that's only a guess since it's odd both didn't work. Curious to know the results. Otherwise my logic says if it isn't the drive...
Hmm so that's two drives that it refused to boot from, right? And it sounds like the 40 GB was fine last time it was used. Have you tried another ATA cable? If not then I might start to suspect the ATA controller on the board. I'd test the HD in another machine to see if it can boot, read, write...
Haha around these parts you hear accident more, I think "wrecked" is more of a southern thing...like y'all. And the gator wrestling. I call it "I ****ed up my ****ing car."
As for the bear head and flag covered joint with the one toothed dude...I just had dinner there. I drove there in my...
Hey at least with the new job and upcoming promotion you can get new toys down the line! Since the stuff went to a friend I bet he'd be willing to give anything you miss a lot back in the future when you've got more space.
Good luck!
What is that Apple badged box? I can't identify it, can anyone else? It's connected via LocalTalk, but doesn't look like any Apple product I've seen. Applefreak quoted the manual as "file server or other accessory" so I guess it falls into one of the two. Any ideas? Prototype server/NAS? That...
I'd actually love to take a trip to Australia one of these days. The same is true for many places. Heck, I thought it was exotic the one time a friend and I were bored one weekday night at a ski resort 45 minutes from the Canadian (Quebec) border and took the trip for the fun of it. This was...
"Observe...the Mighty Cat in its natural environment. Look at it eat that 486 Compaq for lunch. The Duo 280c will have to wait until the Cat finishes to scavenge for scraps."
I did some reading up on the EDs a few years ago when I actually learned they exist. I was surprised I had missed it for...
That's probably what I'll have to do if I ever decide to get one. Probably cheaper to ship in then one of those black 5X00s from down under I've always admired...
Maybe Travel Channel will give me my own show: MacHunter. I'll travel around the world getting these, a PowerBook 550c, and some...
