All cool stuff! Free old software is always nice. Actually, free software in general is nice. I had forgotten about the Floptical drive, I haven't seen one in years!
Thank you for your input and offers for help, I may hit a roadblock at some point. I've been a MacAddict since I was 10 in 1995 so I've got experience, it's just a matter of remembering some things since I haven't played with any retro Macs in a while. I was the one always hanging out in the...
Burnt the 7.5.3 installer to a CD and formatted and installed it to the SE/30. 7.1 was previously on it. Everything's fine now, so luckily it seems it was a software issue. The sound does seem faint. I also cleaned it up a little, but I only bothered to peel the velcro off it and clean dirty...
It looked pre 7.5ish when booting (if my fuzzy memory serves correctly) but I'll try that. I got the same bomb system error screen (with no text in dialog box) when holding down shift. I'll try the space bar trick shortly, just got home so I need a little couch time! Luckily I do have that...
Very cool, especially on the working PB 100. That's one I've always wanted in my collection. 170 and the other boxed stuff is also neat.
Also congratulations on exercising self control. That's one of those things I've been trying to work on... :p
Pictures, as promised.
The Multiple Scan 15AV works fine.
SE/30, 512k, Apple External 850 MB HD, Apple 600e CD-ROM
I ran out of time to play with the SE/30 tonight. I'm going to load a System Folder and system installer on the external hard drive pictured (had that thing since it was new...
Picked these two items up from a friend today. Got the monitor for use wiith my 9600 with 250 MHz G3 upgrade, I want a beige Apple labeled monitor capable of more than 640x480 for it. Haven't tried it quite yet. It's a bit yellowed and has some velcro on it.
The SE/30 is what I'm playing with...
I'll give Opera 5 a shot on it. I'm happy with the Classilla/iCab combo for the novelty browsing it does...but since I'm just playing around it's always good to see what else I can play with!
I've got my 9600 set up right now. It has a 250 MHz G3 upgrade, 240 MB RAM running 9.2.2. I'm posting from it via Classilla right now, and I've also put on iCab. (I already had the latest IE and Netscape versions, but they're pretty old. Classilla and iCab seem pretty nice for this so far, but...
I always love it when I get things for free or almost free that need little or no repair... So are you gonna put them both into use yourself, or flip them and make some cash?
Your retro corner is sweet, and the Portable is an excellent addition. I especially like the matching bag. I'm gonna get into my old Mac stash and add another desk to my office to dedicate to some of my old stuff. So many options and so little space! I won't ramble on about that since I don't...
Looks nice...have the plastics been restored or has it stayed that nice? I've got one in the basement but it's much more yellowed like many of the IIc systems and accessories are these days... Never tested mine though, came with a IIc that looks like somebody spilled coffee or something into the...
Very cool. I really want to get my old IIe or IIgs out for some retro gaming. Don't have a sweet retro joystick yet though. Nice retr0brite results too.
Pretty cool! I bought a 12" PowerBook G4 867 MHz almost as soon as they came out. It replaced my graphite iBook G3 466 Mhz (firewire). I love the size. I used it until about a year and a half ago when the hard drive died. Haven't bothered to repair it yet so it's just sitting in the basement...
@Trash80toHP_Mini: When forwarding the kudos on the Tekserve booth to your son, you can tell him that's my second favorite Macworld New York memory. Second only to when a gentleman in a black turtleneck and jeans with round glasses was making his way through the crowded show floor in the...
