Finally manged to acquire a Lisa 2

Just found the technical manual, will be mighty helpfull! https://vintageapple.org/lisainfo/apple-service-technical-procedures-lisa-macintosh-xl-ocr.pdf And what a masterpiece that book is, when was the last time anyone saw a hand drawn "exploded view"?

Finally manged to acquire a Lisa 2

Well, after Lisa2's reassurances on the Datapower PSU, I have reassembled and powered up the Lisa. Good news, there is life in it! I get beeps :) The bad news, trouble with the monitor part, totally does not come to life. Just stays pitch black, no lines, small dot, nothing. I'm still pretty...

Finally manged to acquire a Lisa 2

Guess first job before attempting to power on is checking the PSU on blown rifa's and such. Think somebody here designed some sort of load harrness to check voltages out without the PSU being in the machine?

    Mouse for Lisa 2

Unforunately won't be needed, got outbidded by one of them Ebay sellers who buys vintage Macs and flips them on ebay for between double to quadruple the price. Or try to at least. All the while hanging up a fancy story to the sellers that they are acquiring those machines collectig/trying to get...

    Soph's mac finds

Sure, right up the moment they explode! Most my SE's came with Varta's, also still holding a charge! Below what one of those Maxwell batteries did to the logic board of one of my SE/30 ☹️

    Soph's mac finds

Regular SE's are easy to be found, have a bunch of them! No leaking caps either, well, at least not on the logic board! As long as the battery didn't do a Maxwell 💥💥 , you should be good!

    Mouse for Lisa 2

Ah ok, good to know (and a relief). Luckily the keyboard is there, seen some prices of those, beyond scary!

    Mouse for Lisa 2

They are obviously hard to find! Can they be constructed from another mouse? Anything adb like or some such? Have an eye on a Lisa 2, but mouse is missing, trying to figure out how problematic this would be!

    Berenod's Quadra 950 find

True that! You could put as much as 256 MB in the machine, which was stupid much at the time! And probably not aal that useful! Bit like the SE/30 with 128 MB, totally bonkers early 90's!

Cool, your thread just made it to the top of my "to read" list 😉

    Berenod's Quadra 950 find

Some of the, still very dusty, insides, saw there was a Maxell battery inside, and for me the words Maxell, battery and vintage Macintosh don't go well together, so duly removed! Hopefully, as with other 68k Mac's, the battery only keeps time and some preferences... Looks like a mix and match...

    Berenod's Quadra 950 find

Have been on the lookout for a Quadra 950 for a while now, and with a bit of patience (well, a lot actually) I saw one pop up on a local second hand website. Not much details, apart from that it was working and had a bunch of peripherals. Picked it up this morning, and ended up pretty...

    BlueSCSI v2 is GREAT!

Thing is that a lot of those things (Zulu, scsi2sd, ...) are hard to come by if you're not US based. So, long shipping times, taxes, custom clearance fees etc tend to make those US based things pretty darn expensive. Which is why all my scsi emulators are bluescsi's, easy, cheap and superfast to...

    Best SE/30 revision Logic Board?

At that cost, hang on to it. It actually is worth more (by a lot) already, Manny people happy to pay a fair bit more then the price you state for a working SE/30 board. Due to the battery bombs and leaking capacitors, working SE/30 main boards wil become rarer and rarer, where at one point only...

    Powerbook recap ; size & brands ?

Few things, most of them don't really do it to make a living out of it. The guy I use (in Belgium!) does it as a side job, and it is his hobby as well! He probably enjoys seeing those machines come to life again. So, looking it that way, they can use the (small) income to aquire tools, enlarge...
