    Classic/Classic II PSU Capacitors

And if the CRT circuitry capacitors need replacement?

    Classic/Classic II PSU Capacitors

I have a Mac Classic II that ticks when you turn it on. No hard drive spin up, no display, just tick tick tick tick tick.... I would guess the PSU caps go bad on these models, but how common is it for caps to go bad in these machines? What caps do I need to replace? Are the earlier compacts...

    What is this?

The wash is some ammonia and some acetone diluted in water. The acetone is for removing finger polish isn't it? I would guess the water dilutes it enough to not eat through it?

    What is this?

RAM missing, ROM intact, still boots. Hard drive is dead, speaker squeals, you get the  :?:  logo. Something keeps clicking every few seconds to startup, probably the drive. I could probably handle a recap, since you say they are somewhat common. If it's something extraordinarily valuable...

    What is this?

This is different from the regular LCs I have in the way it has different ROMs, there is a CUDA button, and there is a random soldered on electrolytic capacitor, however that could just be a repair of some sort. $10 prototype? I knew it was different the minute I opened the case...

    Macintosh IIcx PSU Problems

https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/24089-iicx-cap-polarity/ I recapped the board and it does work, but the PSU still ticks, even after I added another diode in series with the existing one. Any ideas? BTW: the one in the power supply was a 1N4606, so I bought another 1N4606 Ultra High...

Cannot Connect to Ethernet on Slot Loading iMac G3

How do I do either of those? Google isn't being the most helpful.

    IIcx Cap Polarity

I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news is the power supply still ticks even after adding another diode of the same type with the existing one. https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/23952-macintosh-iicx-psu-problems/ I said I got two new diodes, but I only ended up getting one...

    IIcx Cap Polarity

Now I must ask this: On uniserver's capacitor reference, there are only 3 47uF capacitors in this area, here there are 4. I am guessing this is a different revision board?

    IIcx Cap Polarity

My phone was being stupid, here's the picture.

    IIcx Cap Polarity

I am recapping the IIcx today. I didn't see polarity markings on these two caps. I would assume they follow the others but want to be sure so I don't blow up anything.

    Color Classic - Not Booting

On any machine with electrolytic capacitors (the tin can looking things) you will want to replace them regardless of functionality. While they may still work, they *will* still be leaking on the board, which will actually eat through it over time. As for doing the actual recap: if you are...

Cannot Connect to Ethernet on Slot Loading iMac G3

The cable isn't an issue. I was able to connect on the MacBook just fine.

Cannot Connect to Ethernet on Slot Loading iMac G3

I hooked the iMac to the router and I don't get a light. To be sure everything was good with the cable and that port, I hooked the MacBook to it, this time I got a light. Must be something with the iMac then. No matter, I was planning to upgrade to AirPort anyway. I don't want to upgrade if the...

Cannot Connect to Ethernet on Slot Loading iMac G3

I was creating boot floppies for my Color Classic on my iMac G3 Slot Loading, then I left it alone for a few hours on an After Dark screen saver. I came back to it, and wanted to add some programs to the CC, but it didn't connect to the internet! Classilla just says the website cannot be found...

Color Classic Boot No Video/No Boot

Now I feel dumb. It just needs the hard drive plugged in. When you pull the motherboard, something starts ticking (bad caps ticking). Is that caps, or the power supply doesn't have anything to start, like the LC PSUs do.

Color Classic Boot No Video/No Boot

Here's the board. I checked all the caps, and none are installed backwards. The socket in question (see first post) is the VRAM slot on an LC, so I would assume it is the same for a CC? The VRAM is not present in the CC, so is that causing a problem?
