Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Someone on here did a hack with I think it was the 1xx series adapters, and stuffed a modern PSU board inside the original case, and used the original cord and everything. You could do that too.
I -think- someone else had a very similar issue and I thought it was UE8. They had the same style lines that showed in a screenshot. Let me see if I can find it.
Edit: can't find it. Maybe someone knows what I'm talking about. If it wasn't UE8 it was something around there.
Last time I checked, I thought it was around $2k for a working system in decent shape. Anything below $1k is a very good price. Above $3k (unless I'm wrong) think about if you really want it.
That makes sense, thanks for the explanation. So pretty much during the time of the Mac II and maybe early IIx before the high end video cards, this might have came in handy, but if you already have a pretty maxed out system it won't do too much.
Have the chance to buy an Apple Macintosh II Bus Master card. Can't find any info online about it. Model number 077-8264-C.
What does one of these do and is there anything it is actually useful for?
Nope, not that I am aware of. There's some other thread that touched slightly on it, and it's not really possible to get one going without tons of work.
Supposedly that thread OP mentioned some sort of "compatibility" mode built in to the 68060 that made it work with 68040 systems, but I don't...
Good to hear! The recreation would be a new base computer unit and the cartridges?
I wonder if there's any other tests you can stuff in there like a broken trace test of some sort or bad caps?
Heck, at this point, make up an SCSI2SD compatible plug in literal drive platter that spins up and down and moves the arm and everything, but the storage is solid state.
The high res one is more uncommon, but don't think it's hard to find, either. Just in comparison to the regular video card. I think in terms of being the most common, it's Mac II (Very common) > High Res (Somewhat common) > Display 4*8 (Harder to find common) > Display 8*24 (Somewhat uncommon)...
IMO not FedEx's fault. That is not properly packed. Too many gaps and chances to move around. Only one thin layer of bubble wrap? Never had an issue with FedEx.
If you have the extra money to throw around, maybe a new MacEffects keyboard kit is the better choice (if you want something newer)? https://maceffects.com/products/apple-iie-mechanical-keyboard
I do not know how they are, but like the rest of his products, I'm sure it's great if you want...
