I rarely do anything SCSI, didn't know that info, thanks for sharing.
OP, IF you did burn the CD yourself, my Apple 600e will only read up to a disc burned at 4x speed or less. Not sure how the 300 is. Of course, if it's an original it will just work.
Also, when booting and holding c down...
I know for a fact a CC I can boot from a CD drive, I have done it before. Hold down the C key when you start it. Shouldn't the ID be #2, unless you have other things chained up? HDD #1, CD #2?
While waiting for someone else to reply, you can check the solder joints for the connectors on the analog board. Forget the names/numbers, might be the yoke connector or something? Could be cracked joint. When cold, the joint is good, when hot, it pushes outward and loses connection.
You can...
To "future proof" it, replace all caps on analog board and in PSU, may as well get the logic board recapped too (even though they don't leak) just so they are all done at the same time. You can replace the fan with something modern. The HDD can be replaced with an SCSI2SD or similar. Also make...
Just snagged one of these cards off ebay. @slomacuser, do you happen to have copies of the drivers you could upload?
Also found some info in an old magazine online:
So it looks to be a JPEG type of accelerator for Photoshop.
That would be awesome. I don't think there are any PDS cards made for the IIfx except I think the tokamac used it and there's some sort of SCSI card for it, both impossible to find. It's begging for some sort of new use!
I don't know too much about electronic stuff like this, but what about a pi instead? Kind of...defeats the purpose of old computers somewhat...but opens the door to pretty much anything I would think.
That would be a really cool project. Only big thing to keep in mind is that different models have different PDS pinouts.
Would be good to finally have something for the IIfx PDS slot...
I -think- that's the continuous video model. The nubus version can only do photos.
Not too much would be worth doing with it nowadays. The only thing I could think of that might be somewhat easy to do is hook up a cctv camera system to output video to it, but even then, quality would be awful...
Removed the battery and tested the voltage. Reads 4.5 ish. Threw in a new battery I found. Quiet click then nothing. Power button on the back doesn't do anything. Logic board was working last time and is fully recapped. Startup circuit was patched. Still have new batteries on order, but this...
Got my recapped PSU back. Put it in my IIfx which hasn't been started for a couple years, press start key... Click.
Had new batteries installed a few years ago. Checked them now, the right one measures 1.6 volts and the left is 3.
Guessing this is just a battery issue? Nothing turns on, it...
For the rust on the case metal part, personally, I would remove it and soak it in evapo rust, then replace. You don't NEED it, think its for interference reasons, but always nice to keep things complete.
@mg.man Yes, could be from anything. When they decommissioned it, they could have threw it in. Wondering if there was any such nubus type device that may have used it to hint at what the IIx was originally used for, but I can't find anything, so probably some random cable.
Same connector on...
