Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

So a minor update: I spoke to Michael who designed the scsi2sd and he seems to think it could be the cheap cable I'm using (it's a 2m serial cable not even a scsi cable) so I'll source a legit scsi one give that a go.

    Classic II Recap Project

Just on the subject on de/recapping - I got one of these suckers when I did my Plus analog board: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pro-Dual-LCD-Digital-Soldering-Desoldering-Station-Iron-Gun-2-in1-ZD-917-Rework/272856139965?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The quality...

Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

Yep tried lots of different combinations (as low as 20meg), if you could make an image that would be amazing.  I've ordered the disks from rescue my mac, but it's going to take a week or 2 to make it to 'Straya.

    @CharlesT V5 scsi2sd.  @techknight - I'd love to see if you can replicate what's happening with mine.

Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

No joy unfortunately. I managed to get the System 7 installer to see the drive (by inserting the micro sd just after the happy mac) and it went through and installed, but on reboot it just did the same screen pattern loop. Interesting enough if I try doing the same process with the Disk Tools...

Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

Ok thanks for your help. I don't have a working drive to clone - but my install disks just arrived so I'll how I go formatting and making the scsi2sd disk bootable from the patch version of disk tools.

Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

Nope! Only does the bizarro screen stuff with a drive formatted as per http://www.codesrc.c...=HFSFromScratch. I did try with Mini vMac and 6.0.8 and it does the same thing.

Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

Yep looks like it - I figured because I have such a late Plus (serial number lookup says May 1990) that I should have the 3rd rom revision and I may have some better luck.  When I bought it it came with a scsi drive - but it failed and I stupidly threw it out. But it did boot from that.  Still...

Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

So interesting enough I realised that BasiliskII was using a MacIIc rom and this was used to make the bootable image, I figure maybe System 7 is installing specific drivers for that computer, hence the garbled screen and the weird behavior (could be way off here). So I tried Mini vMac with a Mac...

How can you tell if a Plus is supposed to be Beige or Platinum?

Easier way would just to look inside the battery clip.

Mac Plus & scsi2sd bizarro behavior.

I've got a weird issue with a scsi2sd and my mac plus. I followed this guide http://www.codesrc.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=HFSFromScratchand setup the scsi2cd with the suggested mac plus settings, but I'm getting some weird behavior.  When I try to boot from the scs2sd one of 2 things...
