weird, i've actually found the opposite. my 1.8DP G5 was terribly unreliable while running 10.4, but seems to have no issues at all running 10.5.
then again it was 10.4 server, i might as well make a partition for 10.4 and try it out.
i got my current 1.8DP for $320 a couple months ago, that was about the extent of my budget :O
(btw, does 10.5 even support proper GPU decoding? i remember hearing a lot about Snow Leopard adding GPU decoding functionality)
yeah, i figured a new video card wouldn't solve all my problems. nobody here would happen to have any insight on the video playback performance increase (if any) on G5's with upgraded video cards by any chance, though?
i'd love a quad G5, maybe i'll get one if/when i get a job again |)
my computer is a 2x1.8GHz G5 tower, 1.5GB RAM (upgrading to 4GB soon). with TenFourFox, Adium, and a couple other low-power apps going, I can get through around 15 seconds of 720p video without any skipping or glitching. It's got the stock GeForce FX 5200 Ultra - is anyone else with G5's able to...
nothing is "broken" per se, but the superdrive on my G5 tower always opens right after the chime. haven't found a way to fix it. it's kinda annoying when i want to boot from the superdrive, having to go into open firmware and all. is this a known issue?
That's useful information, thanks a bunch!
Also some of those cases are pretty legit, but I found one of these around - hopefully i'll have enough room :p
I have an LC III around with a destroyed case. It's been put in a Bawls cardboard box. I'd like to give it a proper case again, without buying an LC case on eBay or something would anyone happen to know if it would fit in any sort of case you could get from Newegg?
640CD's rule! It was the first 68k Mac I ever owned. There's definitely room, I have a TV tuner and an ethernet card for it.
The built in 486 was the best feature ever. I played so many DOS games with it back in the day. 8-)
CF is expensive and I have tons of SHDC cards around so I was looking into SDHC to 2.5" IDE connectors. Has anyone had any experience with these in older iBooks?
