Hotdog's biggest haul of 2015 so far

As promised, here are some photos ... not for the squeamish :) 3/4 of the haul - G4 Quicksilver, B&W G3 tower, Indigo iMac: The iMac wasn't nearly as dirty on the outside as the inside. I didn't open it up, but I let the air blow through for quite a while to try and get most of the...

Trying to identify some old RAM...

Yep, you're right... I only looked at them briefly last night. Flipped one over and there's a "168" on the back side. Chips are SEC brand # KM416C1200AJ-6. Sounds like factory RAM that got upgraded at the first opportunity. :)

Trying to identify some old RAM...

That page was helpful too... and somewhere along the way, I managed to find a pretty decent Excel spreadsheet of a BUNCH of different RAM modules & their corresponding part #s, brands, and chip layouts. That helped me more than just about anything.  Tonight I'll be going through the rest...

Trying to identify some old RAM...

After sorting all the SIMMs, it looks like I have 8 of the KTA-MAC II/4's. :)  32MB for a future II/IIx acquisition... or maybe I'll sell 'em. We'll see. 64-pin SIMMs Found (6) 64-pin IIfx 80ns SIMMs. A quick search shows they're 1MB Hitachi SIMMs. Then there are (4) SIMMs that have no...

Trying to identify some old RAM...

Thanks! I just found another one a few minutes ago. Yes, the small chip does say "PALCE 16V8H" Does that mean these modules will only work in the II and IIx?

Trying to identify some old RAM...

I recently (well, last year :) ) acquired a bag full of old SIMMs, DIMMs and the like... I am slowly going thru them and trying to identify them based on number of pins, speed in ns, and size, if I can figure that part out, too. Usually, Kingston RAM is pretty easy to identify, but this...

Hotdog's biggest haul of 2015 so far

The place where I work has been using old Macs on the shop floor for time clock software for years. We just upgraded our MIS system and the old Macs have been replaced.  (1) Bondi blue iMac - don't know what revision it is yet, because someone cemented the screw into the bottom. Going to have...

    Alaska's Collection

Wow... I wish I understood that stuff. I've always been a design guy, but I also have an interest in how these things work.

Quadra 840v doesn't see any SCSI devices

The 128mb of RAM could be the culprit for the long delay at startup. Part of the startup procedure is a RAM check. The more RAM you have, the longer it takes to check.

    AppleVision Longevity

I had a 1710AV that I felt the same way about. Still my favorite monitor to this day. One day, I turned it on and heard a "pop." It never worked again.  The longevity question is similar to the same question about the Macs themselves -- shut them off, or keep them on? With Macs, I'm pretty...

Lifted pad... best way to fix?

This is fascinating stuff. I really need to learn how to do this.

There's an accelerator card for this model on sale in the Trading Post. :)

    so i bought a couple Quadra 700's

Maybe we should compile a list of the more popular/valuable threads and perhaps get them restored before others. It'd be progress in that area without committing a huge chunk of time.

    so i bought a couple Quadra 700's

Just for kicks, here's a 1080p capture of Nedry at his desk. Definitely another Q700 with a SuperMac 17" CRT. There are actually two monitors plugged into the Quadra... or, if there's another Mac there, we can't see it. The other computer is a Silicon Graphics workstation. The black & white...

    Hotdog's Stand

I may be covered on the RAM -- zackl sold me a bag full o' RAM a while back and there are lots of 30pin SIMMS in there.  Does anyone here sell the 8mb ROMs and SCSI2SD?  What's the benefit of the 8mb ROM?

    I did say no more...

You'll still find cheap deals.  Whenever I find someone selling a Performa (insert # here), or one of the dime-a-dozen compacts on craigslist, and they want hundreds of semolians for them, I ALWAYS send them a note saying "as a collector, I could literally put a message on one forum and have...
