Duo Keyboards are notoriously crap. I've owned 3 Duo's (270, 280, 2300) and the keyboards were crap on all of them.
My 2300, the only Duo I still have, has the wrist rest from an older Duo. It has a trackball instead of a trackpad... which I prefer.
Nope, not exactly plug and play. You could always get a 5.25" PC drive and plug it into a Windows box and transfer the files to a 3.5" floppy.
Although, I'm not exactly sure what your project is... If the point is to get a Mac to read a 5.25" DOS floppy and not just get the files transfered...
I don't have anything bad to say about ANY of my 11 compacts... 2 Classic II's among them. The SE/30 just happens to be my favorite with it's 2 ADB ports (I plug my barcode scanner into the second port), large memory expansion, and ethernet card.
The Classic II is a nice machine. Enjoy!
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'll have to tear it apart at some point, if for no other reason than to see what blew. Not sure what I want to do with it. For now it's sitting outside... it was really smelling up the house.
I would pull the batteries out of any computer that you are not regularly using. I have lost two PM 6100's because the batteries exploded destroying the motherboards, power supply, and cases.
If the battery is registering under 3.3v, I wouldn't hesitate to clip it. If it is still good then I...
So, I hooked up one of my IIgs' a couple hours ago and started playing with it. I poked around the Startup Disk a bit, made a backup copy, then went immediately into Lode Runner, everything is working fine.
About ten minutes ago I hear a loud POP! Everything is still on... Lode is still...
I didn't really think about the LC being a bit different, but I guess that would make sense since it supports dual-floppies. Your correct the 605 and 475 use the same board and (without looking it up) I'm pretty sure the gestalt ID's are different.
