StuffIt Deluxe 4.01 and System 6.0.8/Mac Plus Compatibility?

After it crashes and you turn it off and back on, do things start crashing immediately after booting, or does it work for a bit? At this point I'm thinking that it has to be a heat related issue... maybe a bad wire, loose connection, solder joint, or badly seated chip or RAM. EDIT: Maybe you...

StuffIt Deluxe 4.01 and System 6.0.8/Mac Plus Compatibility?

A "bad" program on the HD that is just in a random folder shouldn't effect it at all. The only programs that get loaded at startup are the OS files and whatever Extensions and Control Panels that you have added to the System Folder. Uninstalling Extensions and Control Panels is as simple as...

    SE/30 Common Fixable problems

CD-ROM should work. You'll either have to find a Windows program that will write an HFS (not HFS Extended or HFS+) CD, or the Mac should be able to read Windows CD's with these Extensions loaded: Foreign File Access, High Sierra File Access, ISO 9660 File Access. System 6 also requires the...

    Port Access on early Macs

It's not necessarily a good idea to extract (classic) Mac software on a Windows machine. That's a good way to blow away the Resource Fork along with the File and Creator types.

    SE/30 Common Fixable problems

I'm pretty sure to use IP networking (OpenTransport) over the serial port you would need to have an AppleShare IP server setup, or a MacIP router like a Cayman Gatorbox. I have both a Gatorbox and an Asante EN/SC SCSI to Ethernet adapter. For a single computer the SCSI to Ethernet adapter is...

    SE/30 Common Fixable problems

Geo, Glad to see you're getting some questions answered! :) The Mac didn't come with any kind of programming language, but there are a number of them available: Microsoft QuickBASIC, zBASIC, FutureBASIC, various pascal and C development suites. Many, many options. Mode32 is a piece of...

High price for a $5 computer... though the bag probably makes the auction worth $10.

    why the slow forum

Took almost three minutes of loading to get to this topic. However, that's an improvement from last nights not loading at all. It is taking quite a bit of determination on my part just to post once or twice a week, when a month ago I was averaging 3 per day. I don't want to be the person that...

    Apple //e's

Two days ago I recovered two Apple //e's (one of which is platinum), two 5.25" floppy drives, a 3.5" 800k floppy drive, and three Apple composite monitors. I'm not sure if any of this works yet. The equipment was recovered from a building that was partially burned. Everything is covered in soot...

    Always having to log in....

I haven't had any login problems, however the last few weeks every time I visit the forum it either loads extremely slow or doesn't load at all. It's frustrating trying to browse topics and I usually just give up and try again later. With that said it seems to be running ok right now.

    Apple II!!

I just set up one of my IIe's on my desk. I have it sitting under my 20" Dell LCD, which has a composite input, and setup a serial connection (Keyspan PDA Serial-USB adapter) to my G4. I haven't messed with the Apple II game server yet, but I got ADT Pro working. I have some known working disks...

    Apple T-shirt!

The BSoD thing is almost as good as Steve calling it Winders during a keynote. :) The only Apple shirt I have is from the 12 Oaks Apple Store opening in Novi, Michigan. I was #31 in line. I still have it sealed in the plastic tube.

    apple ii monitors, video out

That's true... I didn't think about a video capture device or TV tuner (w/composite, of course). You would want a USB 2.0 of Firewire device, and make sure there there is no encoding delay. Otherwise, there could be a 2-5 second delay before output appears on your Macbook. I have a USB 1.x TV...

    apple ii monitors, video out

The IIe will connect to any monitor that has a composite (RCA/phono) connector. I have mine connected to a 20" Dell LCD. Not all Apple II monitors are compatible. Some have a DB-15 video connector, similar to older Mac's. I believe the 9" IIc monitors were composite. You might want to verify...

    Upgrading RAM in SE

That does present a problem. There is not very much space to work with. I just had the mobo out of my SE a couple weeks ago to solder on a battery holder. I've had the mobo's out of several of my other compacts removing batteries and haven't had too much trouble with them. Perhaps someone else...

I've always been able to wedge a couple fingers in and pinch the clip on the connector and wiggle it free. Do mind the yoke.
