    IIfx Won't boot

Interesting... I'll have to look up a Mac II manual to check that. However, even the person that posted that says he's never heard it speed up or slow down. Here's the info at Low End Mac for what it's worth: http://lowendmac.com/ii/macintosh-iifx.html In the Apple service manual the II and...

    IIfx Won't boot

That sucks... The Mac II and IIx power supply a single speed fan. The IIfx has a variable speed.

    IRS Refund Madness! Multiple Conquests!

I just looked up MacFurniture™... VERY NICE! :) Some day I hope to have my collection organized so well! On a side note the name "MacFurniture™" kinda reminds me of the old IIfx couch :D : http://www.craphound.com/images/maciicouch.jpg

    IRS Refund Madness! Multiple Conquests!

Nice haul! I love the coffee table too! ;) I have a SparcStation 20 also, as well as a Sun Ultra 60. I had the pleasure of administering these machines when they were in use at a previous employer. I purchased the pair for $50 when we replaced them with newer models. With them I got 2 tape...

Just got a big sentimental score!

Yeah, the Quadra 950 is definitely the machine we coveted growing up - and one of my favorite machines in my collection. A year after my friend got the 605, I got a IIsi and both have a really nice size and design... but, that didn't stop us from debating to no end about which one looked...

Just got a big sentimental score!

Thanks! That's a nice Q605 you've got yourself! I also forgot to mention that it had an ethernet card installed... another big score! :D Yup, the 605 has a very nice look to the case, and is a deceptively powerful 68k Mac! :) I wish I could have gotten to it years ago, but it will run...

Just got a big sentimental score!

Thanks! Definitely a lot of good memories associated with this computer. It was a year before I was able to get a computer of my own, so I was at my friends just about every day! :) Well, I washed the board and the battery holder leads rusted through on one end and most of the way through the...

Just got a big sentimental score!

I just scored the first Mac I ever used! My best friends Quadra 605, that he received for Christmas 1993. Neither he or I have seen or used the computer in over 12 years. Long story short, I now own my childhood home and his dad - who my friend is estranged from - still lives two doors down. I...

    iBook screen swap

I'm about 95% positive that they are the same. I believe that when I replaced the screen in my iBook G4 a couple years ago, the replacement came from a G3.

    Attention all PowerBook 165c Owners

I'll respond because you called out *all* PB 165c owners. ;) The screen is usable. I've worked on it quite a bit. Unfortunately, it's the only color passive matrix screen I own (or have used), so I can't really compare it to any other passive matrix screens. There is no comparison to an...

Free: Original 128K upgraded to 512K

Hopefully, I'll be able to tear into it tomorrow to see what upgrades have been done to it. The SCSI port is run through the battery cover. I would highly doubt that this was a 128K at any point in its life. Of course, with a case and motherboard replacement, there is virtually no way to prove it.

Free: Original 128K upgraded to 512K

True. I should have been more specific...128k to 512k upgrades that replaced the case. ;) I'll trade you for the 128k that you just picked up! :D

    IIfx Won't boot

Yup, it's compatible... it just won't have the variable speed fan (ie. single speed). Apple's upgrade path from a Mac II to a IIfx was a motherboard replacement and did NOT include a power supply. All of the voltage outputs are the same.

    IIfx Won't boot

I would agree with that. The cost of finding another powersupply or Mac II, is probably less than having someone fix it. Does the guy you got the IIfx from still have any Mac II's? Then there is the benefit of selling your non-working PS... even if it's for the cost of shipping... it keeps a...

Free: Original 128K upgraded to 512K

Unfortunately, not... I wish I had the space to have my collection setup and running, but my "museum" is basically a walk-in closet with poorly built shelving, in despearate need of a remodel. If my count is right, I believe this is my 75th computer. With my limited space only a select few...

Free: Original 128K upgraded to 512K

Definitely... the carrying case alone, would have been worth driving 2 miles out of my way. It's not the typical Apple carrying case... this one is made by "Lone Peak", which is fine since I already have an Apple case. It gives me something different to put in my collection. Thanks! :) It...

Free: Original 128K upgraded to 512K

Well, I just picked it up this morning... took it into work... opened the nice carrying case... and the back says 512k. Sigh. I'll have to open it up and take a peek at the guts, but I don't recall any 128k Mac upgrades that involved replacing the case - which is what I was most interested in...

    IIfx Won't boot

They should use the same power supply. The II to IIfx upgrade was a motherboard replacement.
